Apple iPad and iPad 2 are two stunning device with awesome features. Apple the pioneers in introducing the iPad have made further improvements to iPad 2 in design and performance. In comparison with iPad, iPad 2 gives a better performance with high speed processor and improved applications. The A5 processor used in iPad 2 is 1GHz Dual-core A9 Application processor based on ARM architecture, The new A5 processor’s clock speed is twice as faster than A4 and 9 times better on graphics (in practice we can expect 5 – 7 times better performance) while the power consumption remains same. iPad 2 is 33% thinner and 15% lighter than iPad while the display is same in both, both are 9.7″ LED back-lit LCD displays with 1024×768 pixel resolution and use the IPS techology. The design is almost same, only a slight different in the edges , iPad 2 has angled edges. The edges are tapered to reduce weight. The battery life is nearly same for both, you can use it up to 10 hrs continuously.
The additional features in iPad 2 are the dual cameras – rare camera with gyro and 720p video camcorder (no flash for the camera), front facing camera with FaceTime for video conferencing, a new software PhotoBooth, HDMI compatibility – you have to connect to HDTV via Apple digital AV adapter that comes separately (cost an extra US$39), and two applications introduced – improved iMovie and a new GarageBand that turns iPad 2 as a small musical instrument (available at App Store for $4.99 each).
iPad 2 will have variants to support both 3G-UMTS network and 3G-CDMA network and will release the Wi-Fi only model also. iPad 2 is available in black and white colors and also priced same like iPad. iPad 2 will be available in the US market from March 11th with Verizon and AT&T and to others from March 25th. The 16GB Wi-Fi only model is priced at $499, and the 64GB Wi-Fi+3G model is priced at $829 without contract.
Apple also introduces a new bendable magnatic case for iPad 2, named as Smart Cover, which is priced at $39 for polyurethane cover and $69 for leather .
The iOS 4.3 update comes with new features and improvement to existing features. The safari browser performance is improved with the new Nitro JavaScript engine. Apple claims that java script runs twice faster as in iOS 4.2. So the page load will be twice faster now. When both iPad 2 and iPad run iOS 4.3, iPad 2 shows about 80% better performance than iPad and pages load around 35% faster than iPad. And the AirPlay is enhanced with video streaming. With the iTunes Home Sharing you can share your movie and music from any Apple device. The iOS 4.3 upgrade is compatible with iPad, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3rd and 4th generation. The iOS 4.3 was released with iPad 2 in US on 11 March 2011. Now the next upgrade OS 4.3.1 is released on 25 March 2011. Which is mainly released to fix some bugs.
