Apple iPhone 4 vs T-Mobile G2X – Full Specs Compared
T-Mobile G2X is the US version of LG Optimus 2X that was added to T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network recently. T-Mobile G2X features a 4” WVGA display at a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and equipped with Tegra 2 Dual Core processor at a speed of 1 GHz and dual cameras – 8MP at the rear side and a 1.3 MP camera at the front. This is an Android based device that runs stock Android 2.2.2. Apple iPhone 4 needs not much introduction. Its main attractions are the 3.5″ Retina display with a resolution of 960 x 640, the simple and elegant iOS 4.2.1 which runs fluidly on the device and the App Store with over 200,000 applications. Both the phones are having nearly same weight and very close measurement on thickness. Even though the specs of T-Mobile G2X is much superior to iPhone 4, iPhone 4 manages to be in the competition with all the latest dual core smartphones mainly due to its OS and the Apple Apps store.
T-Mobile G2X is the US version of the better known LG Optimus 2X that runs on Android Froyo 2.2.2, the OS can be upgraded to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Unlike LG Optimus 2X it uses stock Android. T-Mobile G2X has superb hardware. Its amazing hardware includes 4″ WVGA (800×480) TFT LCD capacitive touch-screen, Nvidia Tegra 2 1GHz dual core processor, 8 megapixel camera with LED flash and video recording capability at 1080p, 1.3 MP camera at the front for video calling, 8 GB internal memory with support for expansion up to 32 GB and HDMI out (support up to 1080p). The other features include Adobe flash player, Wi-Fi, stereo Bluetooth, DLNA latest version 1.5, Video codec DivX and XviD and FM Radio.
Talking about the physical appearance, T-Mobile G2X is a slim device with a dimension of 122.4 x 64.2 x 9.9 mm and weighs 139 grams. The device is attractive with corners rounded and a nice copper colored back cover with Google’s name engraved in a metal plate.
The phone has all the essential smartphone features such as easy access to both personal and work emails, integration with social networking sites, and instant messaging. G2X is powered by a lithium ion battery (1500mAH) that allows for hours of uninterrupted audio/video as well as web browsing pleasure.
Running on Android platform, the user can download from thousands of apps from the Android Market. As a Google trade mark device, the phone has inbuilt with many Google services such as Google Search, Google Voice, Gmail, Google maps, You Tube, and Google talk. In addition T-Mobile has added its own application pack that includes EA Games, T-Mobile Mall, T-Mobile TV and qik for video chat.Nvidia’s Tegra Zone is also available for users.
For connectivity, T-Mobile G2X has Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n), Bluetooth v2.1 and compatible with GSM, EDGE and HSPA+ networks. With 4G connectivity from T-mobile, web browsing is super fast and even full HTML web pages open in a blink.
The handset is available in three colors, black, brown and white. It is available for $200 with a new 2 year contract. Users need a separate data plan from their carrier to enable web based applications.
Apple iPhone 4
The very fact that new smartphones are being compared with Apple iPhone 4 that was launched in the middle of 2010 speaks volumes of the abilities of this amazing smartphone by Apple. And a data plan is also required for web based applications.
