California King vs King


California King and King denote the sizes of the bed and mattresses. California King is designed for taller people and King is designed for people bigger in size.

California King is longer than a standard King size but narrower. The standard size denoted by California King also known as Western King is 4″ longer than King size but the width is 4”less. The surface area of King is more than that of  California King.

The overall dimension of California King is 72″ width x 84″ length whereas King size is 76” width x 80” length.

Though these are  the standards, there may be slight variations in sizes among different manufactures. As such it is always advisable to check the sizes before buying and buy both bed and mattresses together.

The Standard King is sometime referred as Eastern King and California King is also known by different names, Western King, Cal King, WC King or West Coast King.
