Clorox vs Bleach
Bleach is a chemical product that is used in nearly all households around the world. It is usually available in the form of a liquid though many powder products are also getting popular. A few drops of the bleaching agent are added to the water meant to wash white clothes. This liquid makes whites whiter though it is also used to remove colors from colored clothes. Clorox is a company based in California that makes many chemical products, but it is most famous for Clorox, which the name is given by the company for its bleach sold in the market. So popular has Clorox become that many take it as a product different from bleach. This article intends to highlight the differences between Clorox and bleach.
Bleach
This is a chemical product very commonly found in all households. It has disinfectant properties besides having the ability to remove colors from fabrics and make whites whiter, when dipped in a solution of water and a few drops of the liquid bleach. Bleaching is a process that has been known to different civilizations for thousands of years. But modern scientists discovered it by separating Sodium Hypochlorite from seawater.
Bleach is used for different purposes as a whitener or as a disinfectant in homes to remove germs and bacteria from the home. It is also used as a toilet cleaner and garbage can cleaner. Sinks and countertops in kitchens can also be made sparkling clean and free from germs and bacteria using the bleach.
Clorox
Clorox is a bleach product from a company by the same name having its headquarters in Oakland, California. Though the company makes several chemical products, it is its bleach that is most popular. Brita is one of the many subsidiary companies owned by Clorox. The bleach made by the company has become so popular that it is dominating all other bleaches made in the country. Though other brands are available at under $1, people still buy Clorox that costs them $3 per bottle.
What is the difference between Clorox and Bleach? • Bleach is the chemical used as whitener and disinfectant while Clorox is a company making several products, including bleach • Bleach made by Clorox is so popular that bleaches made by other companies are considered inferior, though, there is basically very little difference between the two.

Is bleach better for your white materials or Clorox?
oknazevad says
There is NO DIFFERENCE. “Clorox” is just the brand name for a national brand of bleach, one so widespread that it’s name is used as a genericized trademark, just like Band-Aid, Kleenex, or Jell-O (though Clorox makes other stuff, too).
Ted says
What I have always understood is Clorox has less minerals and at a steady 15% Clorine the others run less of a percentage and has more minerals that seem to taint the colors, more noticeably in whites. If you over use the bleach and it turns brown, use distilled vinegar and it will release the minerals. So with Clorox you can use less and not have rerinse.
Judy Wisenburn says
This does not answer the question. Other than saying Clorox costs more.
The question is essentially about the chemical properties. Everyone knows it is more expensive.
We want to know if it is more effective!
In other words is it WORTH buying the name brand?
oknazevad says
Not really. The chemistry is too simple for supermarket generics to screw up. Though do check to make sure it’s the same strength. Some of the generics are weaker solutions.
Denise Filipowski says
I difference is Clorox is better because is stronger. Because it’s cut with less water than most other bleaches. So you use less.YES The chemicals are the same but. Clorox will be the one I use . And I have used many bleaches. And I am cheap but it is a cost factor using a good bleach verses a watered down one.
