Samsung Galaxy Ace
Samsung have tried to provide full value of money to the users with their latest smartphone in the mid segment by cutting down of luxuries at the same time loading the phone with all that is enough to make Ace rub shoulders with other smartphones of its generation. The smartphone runs on Android 2.2 Froyo that might look outdated to some but is more than capable of providing a smooth and pleasurable experience to the user. It has 800MHz turbo processor with 278MB RAM and internal memory of 2 GB expandable to 32 GB with the help of micro SD cards.
Ace has a large 3.5” HVGA (320x480pixels) screen that bears a striking similarity in looks with iPhone though not so bright. It has dimensions of 112.4×59.9×1.5mm making it quite slim smartphone that also weighs little (113g). Ace is packed with all standard smartphone features such as accelerometer, touch sensitive controls, 3.5mm audio jack, gyro sensor etc. The phone has a nice 5MP camera at the back which is capable of recording videos at 2592x1944pixels. The camera is auto focus with LED flash. It is capable of geo tagging and smile detection, and yes, the front camera video calling.
For connectivity, Ace is Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, GPS with A-GPS, DLNA and full HTML browser. There is GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth v 2.1 with A2DP and the ability to become mobile hotspot. The phone has stereo FM with RDS. It supports decent speeds of 7.2Mbps in HSPDA.
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini pro
Sony has pleased many with Xperia X10 Mini Pro (X10 mini pro) with a kind of miniaturization that has not been seen hitherto. It has a unique full QWERTY keyboard that remains hidden, and you wouldn’t believe it is a smartphone until you get down to its specifications. The name Mini Pro says it all. Do not go by its size as it is packed with features enough to give many smartphones of today a run for their money.
Despite the unique slider, Mini has dimensions of 90x52x17mm making it a slim and small smartphone. It weighs just 120g. It has a small screen in comparison to new smartphones, but if you can manage with its 2.5” capacitive touch screen at QVGA resolution, you will get many features normally seen in more expensive phones only.
The phone runs on Android 1.6 though you can upgrade to Android 2.1. It has a decent 600MHz processor (Qualcomm MSM7227). It is Wi-Fi802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth, with a built in GPS and GPS compass. It supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE along with 3G with HSPA. Mini Pro has 5MP camera at the back which is auto focus with LED flash capable of recording videos in VGA. And yes, there is the legendary Sony Ericsson UX from Sony making browsing and playing games a pleasing experience on the smartphone. The phone has stereo FM radio. It has internal memory of 128MB expandable up to 16GB. The only downside is its battery that is only 930mAh.
