Nokia is a renowned name in the world of mobiles and its mobiles; especially the N series is loved by users for its excellent features and robust designing. After the roaring success of Nokia N8, the giant Finnish company has come up with two more GSM phones that have the potential to shake up the high end smartphones segment in the market. We are talking about E7 that was launched in March and about to be launched N9. The two smartphones are a delight to use with their full QWERTY keypads, and despite not riding the Android bus, these stunning devices have enough features to attract customers who have been loyal to Nokia for long. Let us make a quick comparison between N9 and E7, which should be quite a fun as the competition remains within the family.

Nokia E7

At first glance, E7 looks just like Nokia N8, but you will notice the differences and additions once you use this smartphone. For those who have grown up in the age of full QWERTY smartphones, it may come as a surprise that Nokia first produced its smartphones with a full QWERTY keypad way back in 1996. E7 with a shiny aluminum anodized body is certainly a worthy successor to its earlier siblings.

To begin with, Nokia E7 has dimensions of 123.7 x 62.4 x 13.6mm and weighs 176g that make it a bit chunky but wait till you see it’s uniquely designed keyboard that has two hinges and opens to give a straight as well as a tilted view. You will simply fall in love with the gadget. The display of the phone is what strikes at first. E7 has a huge 4 inch super AMOLED touchscreen that produces an impressive resolution of 360 x 640pixels with 16M colors. The screen is laced with Gorilla Glass display that makes it scratch resistant.

The smartphone runs on Symbian 3 OS, has 680MHz ARM11 processor and packs 256 MB of RAM. It has 16 GB of onboard storage with 1 GB of ROM. It has all standard smartphone features such as accelerometer, proximity sensor and multi touch input method. It also has a 3.5mm audio jack at the top. The phone has 8 MP camera at the back which is fixed focus but has dual LED flash. It shoots pictures in 3264X2448 pixels that produce very sharp, true to life pictures. It also records videos in HD in 720p at 25fps. It also has a VGA camera in front for taking self portraits and making video calls.

For connectivity, it is Wi-Fi802.1b/g/n, EDGE, GPRS, GPS with A-GPS, and Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP. It has an HTML browser that performs satisfactorily. The smartphone has standard Li-ion battery (1200mAh) that provides a talk time of up to 5 hours on 3G. And yes, the phone supports up to speeds of 10.2Mbps on HSDPA and 2 Mbps on HSUPA.

Nokia N9

Nokia N9 is a beauty of a gadget that one realizes as soon as one set his eyes on this smartphone. Nokia has come up with a new OS for this smartphone, and it has some new, interesting features though it retains the sliding full QWERTY physical keyboard. N9 has the largest display (4.2 inch) produced by Nokia so far. Let us take a look at what it promises to the user. Despite having a bigger display than E7, it is lighter as it weighs just 160g.

N9 runs on MeeGo OS, has a powerful 1.2 GHz processor and packs a solid 768 MB RAM. It provides a mammoth 64 GB onboard storage and user can expand internal memory using micro SD cards up to 32 GB.

For those fond of clicking photos, the smartphone has a very decent 5MP camera at the back that produces images in 2592 x 1944 pixels. It has Carl Zeiss lens that is auto focus and has dual LED flash. It can record HD videos in 720p and also has a digital zoom.

The phone is Wi-Fi802.11b/g/n, EDGE, GPRS (class 32), and Bluetooth v3.0 with A2DP. It has HTML browser that allows seamless surfing. It also has stereo FM with RDS. It has full GPS support with A-GPS. N9 is equipped with standard Li-ion battery (1200mAh).
