Oatmeal vs Oats
Oatmeal and Oats are two types of oats or food comprising of oats that show difference between them when it comes to their making and content. Oatmeal refers to the rolled oats. In other words, it can be said that rolled oats are otherwise called as oatmeal. They are considered extremely good for general health.
On the other hand, oats refer to quick oats. It is not usually made or prepared like rolled oats. It is not a kind of hot cereal dish unlike oatmeal. This is the main difference between the two types of food.
Another important difference between oatmeal and oats is the size of the oat. Rolled oats are flattened in size and shape, whereas oats though rolled are cut into small pieces. It is interesting to note that quick oats can absorb moisture very well when compared to rolled oats.
There is not much difference between oatmeal and oats in terms of the nutrition present in them. Almost the same quantity of calories is present in half a cup of rolled oats and oats. Protein and fiber are the chief nutrients of both oatmeal and oats. Carbohydrates too are present in almost a similar percentage in both the types of oats.
The preparation of oatmeal and oats differ too. Oats can be prepared in a microwave. On the other hand, oatmeal is prepared on the stove top. This is one of the important differences between oatmeal and oats. Medium heat should be employed in the preparation of oatmeal. On the other hand, high heat can be employed in the preparation of oats.
Oats can be prepared quickly, whereas oatmeal takes some time to get cooked. These are the very important differences between the two words, namely, oatmeal and oats in terms of their preparation.
