Peanut butter and jam are popular spreads and are primarily used in sandwiches. Adding either of this two to your toasted or just plain bread or crackers adds flavor to it. Not only does these two add up to the flavor of your bread but they also have health benefits.
Peanut butter, as what its name implies, is made from peanut. It is a paste produced from mashing roasted peanuts. Vegetable oil and molasses are added sometimes to get the consistency and flavor. For people with a sweet tooth, they may like jams. Jam is basically made from either sliced or whole fruits which are then boiled with water and sugar. The end-product usually looks like a jelly. Most of the time, jams are made up of only one fruit and not a mix of fruits. The most popular jams include strawberry jam, raspberry and other fruit jams. Jam is a good source of quick energy.
Difference between Peanut Butter and Jam
Both peanut butter and jam has been around in quite sometime, thus they already have a lot of variations. There are also some jams that combine some other ingredient, there is a raspberry hot pepper jam, and it is primarily a raspberry jam added with peppers. Peanut butter is a specific sandwich spread and has peanuts as its main ingredient. On the other hand, jam can be made from any fruit including but not limited to strawberries, blueberries, or peaches.
These two spreads are already a staple to many homes, only one thing one should keep in mind. Peanut butter can be made only with peanuts while there is wide variety of jams.
