Key Difference – Sony Xperia M5 vs Galaxy S6
The Key difference between Sony Xperia M5 and Samsung Galaxy S6 is that the Xperia M5 is specially designed for photography with the ability to take high quality selfies whereas the Galaxy S6 has a high quality screen comprising of high resolution and pixel density. Let us take a closer look and decipher what other features these smartphones offer.
Galaxy S6 Review- Features and Specifications
The Galaxy S6 is a smartphone that has been completely redesigned when compared with its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S5. The phone is made from a combination of high quality glass and metal.Samsung released two phones this year; Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Both have almost same features. The only significant difference being the curved edges which make Galaxy Edge more expensive. So many people may go for Galaxy S6, as it offers the best value for money over the elegant Galaxy S6 edge. Both Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge can be called the best android flagship phones of the year.
Rivals
The Galaxy S6 does not only have to compete with other flagship phones but also with its own Galaxy S6 Edge curved screen phone. The advantage Galaxy S6 has over Galaxy S6 edge is its relatively lower price. Many features like the build and detail of the phone are same in both phones.
Design
The Galaxy S6 comes with a premium quality; use of quality materials in the form of glass and metal add value to the phone. Although the metal glass design looks great, the problem is that it makes the phone really slippery, and it could fall out of you hand or pocket easily. The back cover made out of glass also creates a problem when using it single-handedly. The Samsung’s faux-leather panel would have provided a better grip than the glass back panel. The Galaxy S6 also seems to be wider due to its rounded edges.
Dimensions
The dimensions of the Galaxy S6 is 143.4 x 70.5 x 6.8 mm. The weight of the phone is 138g. These dimensions beat most of its competitors like the HTC One M9 and the LG G4. Compared to the LG G4 and HTC One M9, the Galaxy S6 feel much conformable in the hand and pocket.
Processor
The Processor that comes with Galaxy S6 is Samsung’s very own processor which is powerful and fast beating many of its rivals with fast application speeds. The processor that is powering the phone under the hood is the 64-bit Samsung Exynos 7420 CPU. The applications load without any delay and the secret behind the speed is the 14 nm fabrication process of the processor which enables it to function without overheating and run using less power than the Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. Out of the 8 cores in the processor 4 processors are dedicated to heavy lifting with a clock speed of 2.1 GHz and light weight applications use the other four processors clocked at 1.5 GHz. This saves power by not clocking at full capacity all the while. The 64 bit help the OS to operate faster as well.
Display
The Galaxy S6 comes with the stunning 5.1 inch AMOLED display with a breathtaking resolution of 2560×1440 combined with a pixel density of 577ppi. This pixel density is known to be the best for any handset. The AMOLED display produces more color accurate images and contrast. Blacks are also produced as dark as they come, making it the best display up-to-date. The problem with these type of screen is that brightness is dimmer than its adversaries as LCD is capable of producing a brighter screen than the AMOLED display.
Samsung has addressed this issue. As soon as the phone is taken outdoors, the automatic brightness setting causes the screen to brighten up. This is good news especially for people who travel a lot and use their phones outdoors. This being in the auto mode also provides an advantage, as it keeps the battery in check and does not let it drain too quickly.
Battery
The battery capacity of the phone stands at 2550mAh. The battery capacity is sufficient enough to beat many of its competitors like iPhone 6, HTC One M9, and LG G4. The battery is not removable but as an add-on it is equipped with wireless charging. Fast charging is also available where a 10-minute charge will provide 4 hours of battery life.
OS
The Android 5.0 combined with the touch Wiz interface is more streamlined than ever. Only a few pre-installed apps are welcome feature as it reduces the clutter and gives more options for the user. One noteworthy feature is that the Galaxy S6 is able to support two applications simultaneously which are displayed on the multi-screen.
Camera
The Galaxy S6 comes with a camera with a sensor resolution of 16 megapixels. The aperture is f/1.9 which is able to let in more light and capture more details than its predecessor. There is Optical stabilization support to reduce the blur and increase the detail in low light conditions. The fingerprint sensor or the home button is able to initialize the camera in less than a second so that you do not need to miss any important shots. Images captured using this camera are detailed, vibrant, color accurate and bright. The camera also supports the HDR mode and Auto mode which suit different situations. Virtual shot produces a 3D shot with the rotation of the camera around the object, Time-lapse and slow-motion features with 240 frames per second are also great additions to the camera.
Storage
The storage cannot be expanded using a micro SD card, and the phone is only reliant on internal memory. The reason behind this is that the casing can be made complete, and there will be no need for a flap to cover the micro USB port. The internal storage of the phone come in three flavors. They are 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB.
Connectivity
Connectivity is supported in a variety of ways. LTE Cat.6 Cn support a speed of 300Mbps while Wi-Fi 802.11ac can support speed of up to 620Mbps. Bluetooth connectivity is also supported. A variety of sensors are also available to keep track of the environment and you. The heart rate monitor and the accelerometer are few of the sensors available. The fingerprint scanner on the home button has been enhanced further. By holding the thumb down on the home button, the phone can be unlocked easily rather than swiping as with the Galaxy S5. This is more responsive, and the biometric design is preferred over digits as it is unique and more secure. Samsung Pay is also another feature that is expected to be launched soon, which will take advantage of the fingerprint scanner.
