Visualization vs Image Processing
Visualization and image processing are two means of producing images either through signals or from a diagram or sketch. Both would result to an image either printed or through the monitor. Both also have their own uses and applications and it is best to learn the difference between the two.
Visualization is a technique and a process of creating an image in order to promote communication. In the earlier times, visualization has been used as a means of communicating the past to those who might find it in the future. Also, in the past wherein language and writing were not well established, hieroglyphics was used to communicate and hieroglyphics is an example of visualization.
Image processing on the other hand, is done through signal processing. Image processing techniques usually refers to the process which involves treating an image in order for the image to manifest itself clearly. When you say image processing, more often than not, it refers to digital processing with the use of high technology gadgets. However, optical and analog processing may also be done in order to process an image.
Difference between Visualization and Image Processing
Visualization is any technique in creating images while image processing uses signals for which the result in an image. Examples for visualization are paintings, sketches, and cave drawings. Photographs and video frames are examples for image processing. The output for visualization is an image itself regardless of the technique used for which it resulted from. On the other hand, image processing may result to either an image or parameters related to the original image. Visualization applies to modern science, art, education and multimedia while Image processing mostly applies to electrical engineering and computer sciences.
It is best to note the different definitions of both terms so as not to interchange them.
• Visualization is any technique to create an image while image processing involves the use of signals to result as an image.
• Visualization examples are cave drawings and paintings while photographs and video frames are examples of image processing.
