Wolf vs Fox
The wolf and fox are canids. They came from the biological family of the omnivorous and carnivorous mammals, called Canidae. Other members of their family are coyotes, jackals and your typical household dog. Both of them are social animals and live in groups.
Grey wolf or wolf is by far the largest wild member of the Canidae family. They were once abundant in North Africa, North America and Eurasia. These wolves are social predators that live and travel in families, which consist of a mated pair, who dominates the breeding and food rights, next are the biological offsprings and sometimes the adopted subordinates. They are also considered apex predators. Their significant threats for their survival are tigers and humans.
Foxes are considered as clever animals and hunters. They have the same as any other carnivorous creatures who hunt in order to survive. Foxes exist in almost every continent. Foxes in wild can live up to ten years. However, because of road accidents, hunting and other diseases, they only live for about 2 to 3 years. They usually eat rodents like voles, rabbits, mice, hedgehogs, fruits like berries and many more.
Difference between Wolf and Fox
They may come from the same family. However, their appearance is certainly distinct from the other. A wolf is bigger and can be black, red or white in color while a fox is medium in size, has a fluffy tail and a narrow snout. Wolves travel and hunt in packs, consisting of 5-11 of them as for foxes they prefer to travel in smaller numbers (2-3). Wolves are known as social creatures while foxes are known for their opportunistic and cunning ways. Wolves howl when communicating with other wolves while foxes wail, purr or bark when talking or communicating with the others.
The Wolf and fox are not the first in the food chain, but still they are at the top portion and play a significant role.
