** Abacus Math vs Vedic Math
**

Abacus math and Vedic math are two ancient methods available for school kids to learn and master calculations in mathematics. These two systems are easy to master and enable students to do large and complex calculations mentally without having to use calculators or any other electronic device. There are similarities in these two ancient math systems but there are differences also that will be highlighted in this article.

Abacus is a device that was invented during the Greek-Roman times. It has evolved a lot from that time with different cultures having added their own inputs. China is one country that innovated and developed abacus much more than other countries. This is a device in which there is a horizontal and vertical arrangement of beads and using these beads it is possible to do math calculations without any paper and pen. Those who learn the tricks of abacus find that their confidence goes up and they have a sense of achievement. Their problem solving ability is improved and their concentration also goes up.

Vedic math on the other hand was invented and developed in India in ancient times and some say that it is as old as 5000 BC. The concepts of Vedic math are found in old Hindu scriptures. These concepts were put together in an easy manner by one person Bharthi Krisna Tirathji (1884-1960) as he translated complex Sanskrit texts into easy math that can be understood by kids.

**Abacus Math vs Vedic Math**

Talking of differences, while the device called abacus which is an arrangement of beads, is used in Abacus math, Vedic math does not rely on any device and all calculations are done in mind. Abacus math helps in learning tables and multiplication of large numbers as well as division. On the other hand, Vedic math goes much beyond simple arithmetic problems and if mastered can help anyone to do complex geometrical and algebraic problems. Abacus math, if started at the age of 4 is especially helpful but with Vedic math, there is no such requirement and it can be learnt at any age.
