Difference Between AIEEE and IIT

AIEEE vs IIT

AIEEE and IIT are both related to Engineering eduction in India. To begin with AIEEE is the short form of All India Engineering Entrance examination, whereas IIT stands for Indian Institute of Technology. AIEEE is an exam conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for entrance to various National Institutes of Engineering and Technology, whereas IIT’s conduct their own entrance examination at national level for entrance into 15 IIT’s located in different cities of the country.

IIT’s were established by an act of the parliament and they refer to premier institutes imparting higher education in the field of engineering and technology to prepare a skilled workforce that can give important contribution in the social and economic development of the country. At present there are 15 IIT’s in India located at Kharagpur, Mumbai, Delhi, Kanpur, Guwahati, Roorkee, Ropar, Bhubaneshwar, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Patna, Jodhpur, Mandi and Indore. Students selected study in these IIT’s and also at IT-BHU Varanasi which is slated to be converted into an IIT in near future.

It is a dream of all the students who wish to pursue a career in engineering to get into IIT’s. AIEEE is only second in importance as a student gets admission into regional colleges of engineering and other institutes of technologies. IIT’s are autonomous institutes that conduct their own entrance exam, known as Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), for selection into various IIT’s, based upon the performance in the entrance examination. Even a very high performance in AIEEE cannot get a student admission into any of the IIT’s.

If we talk about differences between the two entranced exams that is AIEEE and JEE, while the subjects of physics, chemistry and math remain the same, it is the difference in the level of concept based knowledge that separates the two. While AIEEE stresses accuracy and speed, a deep understanding of concepts is a must for clearing JEE. If one compares the entrance question papers of the two exams, it becomes clear that a student needs to be clear in the fundamental concepts of the subjects if he wishes to clear JEE, while speed and memorization can do the trick in AIEEE.

Summary

Both IIT’s JEE and AIEEE are entrance level exams for engineering.

While IIT’s own JEE gets entrance to premier engineering institutions in India, selection is into regional colleges of engineering through AIEEE.

IITexamination is considered to be tough, while AIEEE is considered to be relatively easier.
