Aloe Vera is a plant belonging to cacti family that is collectively known as Aloe. In fact, despite there being hundreds of species of genus Aloe, Aloe Vera is the popular one all over the world, and is known to common public. This may be due to medicinal benefits of Aloe Vera plant and because of the way it has been marketed by pharmaceutical companies. Aloe Vera is also an Aloe, but different Aloe plants have different properties, this is true for Aloe Vera also. Let us take a closer look.

It grows mainly in dry regions in different parts of Asia, Africa and America. Not all 240 cacti, found under the genus Aloe, are of any nutritional value for human beings; only four species are important for humans. Of these four, it is Aloe Vera that is most significant because of its perceived benefits.

Aloe Vera is available in the market in the form of gel and crème, and is found in hundreds of skin care products, to treat various skin conditions. People in many parts of the world take Aloe Vera juices orally because of its benefit in medical conditions such as diabetes, arthritis, epilepsy, and asthma.
