AMA vs MotoGP

AMA and MotoGP are two of the most important motorcycle races in the world. With numerous members and of course spectators, it is no wonder that they gained their influence, not just by their adrenaline pumping scenes but also of their years of existence and history.

AMA
AMA or better known as the American Motorcycle Association has a long history of its association, members and even the racing activities. Created in the 1920’s, it is one of the most established organizations in transportation. It does not only offers membership to fellow motorcycle enthusiasts but also coordinates professional racing competition in the United States. They also have regulated the motorcycles that want to join in the race.

MotoGP

MotoGP, also known as the Motorcycle Grand Prix is perhaps one, if not the most prestigious motorcycle racing. It has international venue for its race and is participated by competitors the world over. First organized in 1949, this racing is considered as one of the pioneers for road racing events. The Grand Prix also has the category of MotoGP in which it utilizes a four-stroke engine.

Difference between AMA and MotoGP

Given that one is a race that is held exclusively in the United States and the other is an international event, perhaps one of the factors that can further set them apart are the types of bikes that are accepted in such races. For AMA, the bikes are usually accessible for public usage. It is designed for road use and has modified parts, engine and tires to handle increased speed for racing. MotoGP bikes however are built for this race alone, it is not for normal road riding. In fact public access is not allowed for these bikes and you have to be a certified rider to be allowed to ride one.

Apart from the fact that they both offer races and has changed people’s view on motorcycles, these two have contributed so much not just to motorcycle junkies but also to those who are interested in speed. They have not only given prestige to the motorcycle community but also a sense of camaraderie and pride as well.
