Android Honeycomb Tablet Motorolo Xoom vs Samsung Galaxy Tab
Verizon Wireless together with Motorola Mobility officially announced their new release Android Honeycomb Tablet Motorola XOOM on 5th January, 2011. This is the first Android 3.0 Honeycomb device to be officially unveiled. Samsung Galaxy Tab which was released latter part of last year was the first tablet to integrate the phone feature. It You can either use speaker phone or Bluetooth to communicate. The Galaxy Tab is only 7″ which is conveineint for mobilty and that’s what tablets are meant for. It is running on Android 2.2 (Froyo) with the promised upgrade to Android 3.0 Honeycomb.

This is the first device on Google’s next generation mobile operating system Android OS 3.0 Honeycomb entirely designed for tablets. The device made more powerful with 1 GHz dual core NVIDA Tegra processor, 1GB RAM and comes with 10.1″ HD capacitive touchscreen with higher resolution 1280 x 800 and 16:10 aspect ratio, 5.0 MP rear camera with dual LED flash, 720p video recording, 2 MP front camera, 32 GB Internal memeory, extendable up to 32 GB, HDMI TV out and DNLA, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n. All this is supported by Verizon’s CDMA Network and upgradeable to 4G-LTE network, proposed in Q2 2011. The device has built-in gyroscope, barometer, e-compass, accelerometer and adaptive lighting for new types of applications. The tablet can be a mobile hot spot with the capability to connect up to five Wi-fi devices.
The Android Honeycomb has attractive UI, gives enhanced multimedia and full browsing experience. The Honeycomb features include Google Map 5.0 with 3D interaction, Tablet optimized Gmail, Google Search, redesigned Youtube, ebook and thousands of applications from Android Market. The business applications include Google Calender, Exchange Mail, opening and editing documents, spreadsheets and presentations. It also supports Adobe Flash 10.1.
The tablet is slim and light weight with a dimension of 9.80″ (249mm) x 6.61″ (167.8mm) x 0.51(12.9mm) and only 25.75 oz (730g)

Galaxy Tab is smaller and lighter than Motorola Xoom, the tablet screen is just 7-inch TFT LCD capacitive multitouch screen.
Dimensions of Samsung Galaxy Tablet is 7.48″(190.1mm) x 4.74″(120.5mm) x 0.47″(12mm) and it weighs less than a pound, it is only 0.84 pounds (13 oz, 385g).
Samsung’s tablet also has the same speed 1GHz processor but not dual core, 512 MB RAM, Internal storage capacity is 16GB or 32GB and supports up to 32GB of expandable storage. Galaxy Tab also has two cameras; a rear-facing 3.2-megapixel camera and a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera for video chatting. Galaxy’s battery life is up to 7 hours of video playback.
Samsung Galaxy Tab runs on Google’s Android 2.2, upgradeable to Android 3.0 Honeycomb. Android 2.2 supports full multitasking, Adobe Flash 10, and applications from Android Market. Some opine that Android 2.2 (Froyo) is not fully optimized for tablets.
However, with the proposed OS upgrade of Samsung Galaxy to Honeycomb, the major differences going to be the processor, tablet size, display and the camera.
