For students who have completed their 10+2, it is a difficult decision to make whether to study science, commerce, or humanities at the undergraduate level. Things are not easy even when they decided to pursue commerce as there are many different courses at the undergraduate level. There is Bachelor of Commerce, and then there is the Bachelor of Business to choose from, apart from Bachelor of Business Administration of course. This article attempts to make clear the difference between Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Commerce for the readers.

Bachelor of Business

Bachelor of Business is a degree course being offered in some colleges in New Zealand and Australia. It is of 3-4 years in duration and offers undergraduate level degree in the field of business that is similar in nature and content to the Bachelor of Commerce. Bachelor of Business is a degree that can focus upon various aspects of business, and there is always specialization in this degree that is mentioned along with the degree such as banking, finance, property, agricultural commerce, marketing, information systems, and so on.

Bachelor of Commerce

Bachelor of Commerce is a very common degree in most parts of the world, especially the Commonwealth. Also, referred simply as B.Com or BCom, Bachelor of Commerce, is a 3-4 year degree course that makes students eligible to enter the finance and banking industries apart from becoming eligible to undertake the exams of Chartered Accountancy course. The content of the course is so designed to make a student skilled and experienced to take a plunge in the world of accounting, finance, and other business principles.

Bachelor of Business vs Bachelor of Commerce

Both Bachelor of Commerce as well as Bachelor of Business are undergraduate level courses designed to impart education to students in the field of business and to prepare them for higher studies in this field. There is not much of a difference in the course and the content, with some Universities calling their course bachelor of Commerce while others preferring the term Bachelor of Business. While Bachelor of Business is common in Australia and New Zealand, Bachelor of Commerce is more common in Commonwealth countries. Interestingly, B. Com is not being offered in colleges in UK anymore.
