Banquet vs Reception
Before looking at the difference between banquet and reception seating, let’s first see what is the difference between a banquet and reception.
What is a Banquet?
A banquet is a large meal or feast that is arranged in honour of a particular person or occasion. It can be a charitable gathering, a ceremony, or a celebration, and is often preceded or followed by speeches.
What is a Reception?
A reception is a formal party or event that is designed to receive a large number of guests. The hosts form a receiving line near the entrance greets each guest as he or she arrives. Each guest gets to greet, congratulate and/or speak with the hosts. After formally receiving each guest in this manner, the hosts then mingle with the guests.
A wedding reception is a party that is held after a marriage ceremony. It is the occasion where the bride and the groom receive their family and friends as a married couple.
Now that you know the difference between banquet and reception seating let’s look at the difference between banquet and reception seating.
Reception Seating:
Reception seating arrangements often include a combination of round tables (with chairs) and smaller cocktail tables arranged throughout the room. Reception rooms may have more empty space for mingling and dancing.
Banquet Seating:
Banquet seating may consist of round tables arranged throughout the room. The guests are seated around the table. Banquets may also contain two or three long tables, and the guests may be seated on the either side of the tables. Banquet seating arrangements usually take more space in a room.
