Bear vs Bull

By the looks and sounds of a bear and a bull, it makes to be frightened as they can be extremely dangerous. Therefore, both bears and bulls can be considered as somewhat similar given their behaviours. However, they belong to two very distinct categories in the animal kingdom, serving many differences between bears and bulls. The bulls are known as males of many species of animals including elephants and whales but, this article deals with the usual referral of the male cattle (Bos primigenius taurus).

Bear

The largest member of the doglike carnivores, often known as caniforms, is bear. There are eight species of them including Polar bears and Giant pandas. The habitats range drastically across the bear species, and mostly distributed throughout the Northern hemisphere and some countries in the Southern hemisphere. The Asian bears viz. Sun bear are smaller with body weight of 70 kilograms but, the Polar bears weigh more than 750 kilograms. Their large bodies are covered with shaggy hairs, and the feet are stocky. Snout is long, and the tail is short, while the paws are plantigrade type with nonrectractile and curved claws. Their claws are useful to climb trees, and the paws are helpful in walking on the ground. Bears have a variety of food habits ranging from selective herbivores (Giant panda) to carnivores (Polar bear). Generally, bears live alone unless, either there is a cub with a mother or sexual partners in the mating season. Bears are usually diurnal but, some are active in the night also. Despite their stout bodies, bears can run at speeds of 50 kilometres per hour. Their excellent sense of smell has been useful in communication about breeding or feeding. Bears can hibernate in the winter season to save their energy. In addition to their popularity due to the magnificence, bears have been important in Chinese medicine also.

Bull

The usual referral of bull is to male of the cattle. The unmarked young males in the wild are referred as micky in Australia. However, a bull’s body is highly muscular, which gives them a frightening and prominent look over the others. Bulls are strong, and their bones are heavy and thicker. They have large feet with broad and hard hooves. A kick from a foot of a bull can easily kill or disable anyone. The bull’s head is bony and the neck is muscular, those help them to fight and win their opponents. Additionally, the ridges over the eyes are remarkably important to protect them in their fights. Although both male and female cattle have horns, the stronger ones are with the bulls. Horns are useful devices, first in fights, and eventually to be selected to mate with a female. These strong animals are bulky, and the weight can vary from 500 to 1000 kilograms. Aggression is remarkable in bulls, and it is higher in dairy breeds than in beef breeds. Apart from the uses in beef and dairy (as stud bulls) productions, the bulls have been involved in human cultures (e.g. Spanish bull fighting).

Bear Vs Bull

Those two remarkable animals are particularly aggressive towards humans hence, their behaviours appear to be similar in certain cases. However, the obvious differences in body forms, food habits, reproduction…etc explain the comparison of these two.
