Beluga Messenger vs Twitter
Facebook Beluga and Twitter are both social networking applications. Facebook the social networking giant bought Beluga in Q1, 2011. Even though Facebook has its own messenger application and status update which is almost equivalent to what Beluga and twitter are using, Facebook bought Beluga because of its excellent features. So now Beluga will be used with Facebook login credentials to sign in. Other than Beluga, Twitter and Facebook there are a lot of messaging applications exist like GroupMe, Yahoo Messenger, Hotmail Messenger, Skype, Google Talk , Ping Chat and Blackberry Messenger(BBM). So we will discuss here why Beluga is so significant and popular. Beluga was started in July 2010 by Ben Davenport, Lucy Zhang and Jonathan Perlow and recently bought by Facebook.
Twitter is a web based application offering social networking and microblogging services that facilitate users to broadcast and read messages and updates called tweets. Users can create a twitter account and update with their news, status or anything so that it goes to public. Even though it’s a public status update by default, users can set it to show only to the followers. It’s basically like SMS on mobile but SMS is a person to person but twitter is a messaging system to broadcast your messages to everyone. It can be categorised as group messaging system.
All users can send and receive tweets through twitter web, Smartphone application or via SMS in certain countries. For an example if you tuned to tweets from CNN, you will get updates or receive tweets when they update instantly. Twitter is based in San Francisco and founded by Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams and Biz Stone in July 2006.
Beluga
Beluga is also an application like Twitter but in Beluga you can create a group or pod and send messages to them only. Basically it’s in between SMS kind of single point to point messaging system and twitter like broadcasting system. So you may think what are the differences between group chat in Skype or other messenger applications and Beluga, in group chat users have to be online to receive your chat but in twitter and Beluga they don’t need to. Beluga pods are completely private and multi-way communication application.
