Boot vs Shoe
Difference between boot and shoe mainly comes from the appearance. Mankind has been using footwear for protection of feet and also for comfort all day long while working or performing many other activities. However, shoes have traditionally been used by ladies as an item to make them look more attractive besides getting comfort for their feet. Though the size of shoes depends upon the feet sizes in various cultures, their shapes and patterns have also differed in various cultures. There are formal as well as casual shoes, and there are sports or activity shoes that are loved by both men and women for their comfort and style to go with all kinds of dresses. One special type of shoes is called boot shoe and is worn by people both for style as well as because of their ability to protect from extreme weather conditions like snowfall, rains, and muddy roads. Let us take a look at the differences between boots and shoes in general though boots happen to be a type of shoes.
What is Shoe?
Shoe is the footwear that covers our whole foot up to the ankle. Mainly shoes are worn by people to protect their feet while doing their day to day chores. Shoes come in two different categories; they are men’s shoes and women’s shoes. There are various designs for shoes as nowadays people wear shoes also for fashion. Especially, women wear shoes to look more attractive. If the only purpose of wearing shoes was protection, then women would not need to wear high-heeled shoes that add a certain beauty to the wearer.
Originally, shoes were made using wood, leather or canvas. At present, shoes are made using a variety of other materials such as rubber and plastic.
What is Boot?
Boot is the footwear that covers our whole foot and our lower leg. This cover of the leg can be up to a level higher than the ankle. This can be covering the whole lower part of the leg up to the knee. Boots look different from all other types of shoes in the manner in which they go up to ankle height and sometimes even cover the knees. They can be laced or zipped.
If there is one image etched in the minds of people associated with boots, it is that of cowboys sporting these shoes and riding horses, always ready for some action. WWW, or Wild, Wild West as it is referred to in stories and films, often makes mention of these boots that reflected rough and tough image of the cowboys. Terracotta boots that have been unearthed from ancient remains in Greece are indicative of the fact that the fashion of boots is not new, and they have been used by mankind for thousands of years now.
Boots serve a very important purpose, and that is to protect the feet of the wearer from the elements (down from knees and ankles to the heels). This is why they are commonly used by soldiers in armed forces, miners that work underground, mountaineers, explorers, and common people in harsh climate conditions. In countries with extremely cold weather, it is common to see, men, women, and kids wearing these boots to prevent frost bite and harm or injury from hail storms.
Boots are made from many kinds of materials such as rubber, canvas, leather, etc. Those who are fond of horse riding know the value of these boots as they wear a strap on these boots when astride a horse and need to kick the horse every now and then for speeding up and to give other directions.
