The difference between California King and King bed comes from the differences in the width and length of both beds. California King and King denote the sizes of the bed and mattresses. California King is longer than a standard King size bed but narrower than it. The standard size denoted by California King, also known as Western King, is 4 inches longer than King size, but the width is 4 inches less. The surface area of King is more than that of California King.
