Chroma Key vs Green Screen
Chroma key and green screen are terms related to video production and are commonly used in weather forecasts. Normally, what we see at home is that the forecaster is standing in front of a map, but in reality, the forecaster is just standing on a background which is usually either green or blue in color.
Chroma key
Chroma key is what most define as a technique used by video editors. This technique makes it possible for the editors remove certain colors that they felt not necessary on the picture. This technique is also known as CSO or color separation overlay. One can actually use any color when doing chroma key, but the most commonly used color is either blue or green.
Green Screen
Green screen on the other hand is often used as the basis of most effects, from Hollywood movies to weather forecast. The entire idea for this is pretty simple. When shooting a video in a single colored background (although blue and green are most commonly used) one can make the background color be seen as transparent with a tool, thus making it easier to superimpose things into a shot.

As technology continues to evolve, more tools are becoming available day by day that sometimes one finds his or her self lost. Chroma key is a process usually used when editing. The term green screen is often used when shooting. One can chroma key any color the user may like, although most people prefer using blue or green. It should not be shocking if user uses a green background for green screen. What one should always remember with green screen though is that lighting is very critical. The end product primarily depends on your lighting.
Chroma key and green screen both enables one to do variety of things. It may help one appear to be jogging on the moon or may be walking among the stars.
