College vs School
The difference between college and school exists in a number of factors such as rules, choosing of subjects, teacher-student relationship, etc. Every kid moves on from a school to a college after he passes his 10+2 exam. This is also a time when he has to choose between various colleges and universities available in his area of residence or a nearby area that fulfill his requirements. There are a lot of differences between a school and a college that will be highlighted in this article. First we will have a look at each term individually. Then, we will move on to discussing the difference between a college and a school.
What is School?
A school is an educational institution that is like an edifice over which the building of higher education is built. But, this is too obvious a difference between the two educational settings that are as different as chalk and cheese for students, who feel like a fish that has been thrown in the ocean or sea from the small river or stream that is more safe and secure. A school is generally an educational institute that offers primary and secondary education. So a child grows up in the school.
When it comes to teaching, moral teachings and nationalistic feelings are tried to be infused in kids at schools. This is because children attending the school is still in the growing stage, and the teachers want to help them in understanding the right and wrong. Usually, the teacher and student relationship in a school is based on understanding but not very close. When the students reach more advanced classes, this situation can change. However, that depends on the teacher and his or her principles.
School is very formal in every aspect. There are uniforms in schools and more discipline than in colleges. This is because these are young children, and they need guidance. Uniform is part of the rules in a school. However, in some countries, in some schools, such a uniform is not used as in US. When it comes to learning, the students have to attend every class. They cannot choose to ignore a class if they want.
What is College?
Though the term college has different uses in different countries, they all refer to college as a tertiary educational institute. That means the child attends college after his or her school life. In terms of both size and faculties, a college is much bigger than a school. On the other hand, a college is more neutral in both the environment and attitude of teachers, who are more concerned with imparting knowledge than trying to shape up the character of students, which is common in schools.
Colleges try to consolidate the knowledge base of the students, preparing them for a future, where the degree earned would prove valuable in getting a job in the industry. When it comes to the relationship between teachers and students in college, this relationship is friendlier as here adults are dealing with adults. However, that again can change according to the principles and attitudes of the teacher.
Unlike schools, colleges are not formal in every aspect. There is a self-imposed discipline in colleges with no uniforms being mandatory. In colleges, there are minimum numbers of hours necessary to complete units of a course, and it is up to students to decide which classes to attend and which ones to leave out.
Ask a student about his feelings in a high school, and he will come out with all the fears and anxieties, while first year in a college is almost fun for most students as most of the restrictions imposed in a school are automatically lifted in a college.

• Morality and Nationalism:
• A child attends a school during the early ages of his or her life. So, there are unofficial teachings in morality and nationalism in schools.
• Teachers are concerned with imparting just knowledge of the subject in a college.
• Decision-Making:
• The school expects the students to follow the rules and make decisions.
• The college gives the students the liberty to decide what they want to do.
• Duration:
• A school life, when taken as a whole, lasts for about twelve years.
• A college life is less lengthy and lasts only for a few years.
• Teaching Method:
• In a school, most of the information necessary is provided by the teacher.
• In a college, the lecturer provides only a guidance. The student has to expand his knowledge by learning by himself.
