Cyber-shot and Coolpix are two consumer camera brands from two of the giants in the camera industry. Cyber-shot is a product of Sony cameras whereas the Coolpix series is a product of Nikon cameras. Both of these camera lines have a considerable share in the consumer market. Most of these cameras are point and shoot cameras, but some are prosumer cameras.

Coolpix Camera

Coolpix is one of the best-selling camera lines produced by the camera giant Nikon. Nikon cameras are preferred by a lot of users and Coolpix is their consumer camera line. This mostly consists of point and shoot cameras and some professional – consumer models. The Coolpix camera line was initiated by Nikon in the year 1997 with the Coolpix 100 which was introduced to the market in January. The Nikon Coolpix camera line currently has four main lines of production. These are the All Weather Series, Life Series, Performance Series, and the Style Series. The All Weather Series, which is identified by the naming system AWxxx, is a series with rugged digital cameras that can operate in almost any weather condition. The Life series identified by Lxxx is a series of digital cameras that are designed to meet daily requirements of a typical user. The Performance series identified by Pxxx is a line of digital cameras that are high performance and sometimes can be considered as prosumer cameras. The Style series is a line of digital cameras with a stylish outlook a bit and offer typical performance.

Cyber-shot Camera

Cyber-shot is a camera range that is driven by Sony, a giant in the camera industry, and very famous among consumers. The Cyber-shot range was initiated in 1996 by Sony. Most of the Cyber-shot cameras consist of Carl Zeiss lenses. Cyber-shot cameras have a very unique ability to capture fast moving objects. The images taken with a Cyber-shot or any other Sony camera comes with a prefix of DCS which stands for Digital Still Camera. The Sony Cyber-shot series has four different sub types. The T series Cyber-shot cameras offer high end features of point and shoot cameras and are somewhat expensive. The W series Cyber-shot cameras are point and shoot cameras in the mid region with all around features within budget. The H series can be considered as prosumer cameras and are designed for amateur photographers. The S series is the budget series Cyber-shot cameras. Sony mobile phones, which were previously known as Sony Ericsson mobile phones, also feature cyber-shot cameras in some of their designs.
