Dance Pantyhose vs Formal Pantyhose

Dance pantyhose and formal pantyhose are amongst the foundation garments that every girl’s lingerie wardrobe must have. Though they slightly differ in characteristics and functions, both are usually used as support and are worn to enhance leg contour and texture especially in events where bare legs are a no-no.

Dance Pantyhose

Dance pantyhose or what we sometimes refer to as tights is the most identifiable piece of clothing associated to artists in the field of performing arts. They are skin-tight articles made to be worn from waist to feet, covering the entire surface of the leg. Used as basic dance costume, these custom-made garments are designed as such to allow freedom of movement, agility and comfort.

Formal Pantyhose

Formal pantyhose have been widely acknowledged as part and parcel of the professional dress standards for women, though not isolated for such case as they can also be used for added flair in party dresses. Regardless of denier, the use of hosieries to complement formal attires remains evident despite the emergence of barelegged trends. Formal pantyhose come in variety of patterns and styles but all are conventionally crafted from elastic materials.

Difference between Dance Pantyhose and Formal Pantyhose

Pantyhose are best described by the terms “panties” and “nylon hosiery”, so whatever the specific purpose they may serve, they appear to be of standard form. Dance pantyhose though are generally made of durable spandex and have even breadth from waistline down to bottom end. In contrast, formal pantyhose are usually made with strong and elastic waist top, cotton-made crotch and a consistently thin material from the legs until the toes. Dance pantyhose are characteristically made of high gloss materials in different shades and hues, while formal pantyhose are usually of neutral colors and are less shiny in appearance.

Fashion styles these days are bringing pantyhose back into the limelight. Whether they are purchased for the purpose of glam or for a particular function, its delicate nature remains to be a top concern since they are of materials that easily snag and tear.

In brief:

• Dance pantyhose are generally made of durable spandex and have even breadth from waistline down to bottom end; formal pantyhose are usually made with strong and elastic waist top, cotton-made crotch and a consistently thin material from the legs until the toes.

• Dance pantyhose are characteristically made of high gloss materials in different shades and hues, while formal pantyhose are usually of neutral colors and are less shiny in appearance.
