Dandruff is the most commonly seen problem of the hair skin and is caused when that part of your skin produces oil more than it is required. In fact not just the skin of the head, dandruff can be caused anywhere including a person’s scalp, ears, face, chest, folds of skin such as underarms, abdominal folds etc. although the problem of dandruff dates way back when human existence came in to being, yet, the actual and real reason behind dandruff is still unknown. You may find thick patches of dandruff or small visible flakes depending on the fact that how chronic it is. The skin which is experiencing dandruff is most likely to feel dry, and flaky. Dandruff is also said to have caused hair loss, itchy feeling, and limp hair. Dry Scalp

The funny part is that the term ‘dry scalp’ is so misunderstood that many a people take it as an indication to make your scalp wet and that way get rid of the dry scalp whereas quite surprisingly, the results are just the opposite. Washing a dry scalp more often would only add to the dryness and make your scalp become even more dry and dull. We actually don’t realize but all the shampoos, gels, hair sprays and all other products contain high chemical and harsh ingredients which make the condition of your scalp worse. Basically, dry scalp means that your scalp is not getting the right amount of moisture and therefore lacks luster and shine. Your hair strands are not lubricated enough since your scalp itself is not lubricated resulting in dryness. The oil glands or the sebaceous glands do not work properly to provide adequate amounts of oil to the scalp and consequently the hair strands and this is the basic reason why your hair loses shine since it’s the sebaceous glands that are responsible for all the healthy look of your hair.

What is the difference between Dandruff and Dry Scalp?

The basic difference between dandruff and dry scalp is that dandruff is caused due to the over-production of oil through the oil glands whereas a dry scalp is the result of inadequate production of the oil to the scalp. Both thee common problems have several remedies but if the problem is persistent and chronic, you need to see the doctor immediately.
