Economy vs Compact Cars

There are many different types of cars available in the market, and to make it easier for people when they look for a car, to match their requirements, cars are divided into several categories from small family cars to high-end luxury cars. Economy and compact cars are two categories of cars that have many similarities and overlapping, making it difficult for consumers to differentiate between the two. This article intends to highlight the difference between economy and compact cars so that an average person is not surprised by difference in their rentals or on road prices.

Economy Cars

What comes to mind when one hears of economy cars is their low price and low operational costs. Economy cars are known for their high fuel efficiency that translates into low monthly expenditure on gas. The major thrust of the manufacturers while making economy cars is, to make them available for less and make them light on the wallet of the owner, when it comes to maintenance and repairs. There are always several variants of economy cars, and their price goes up with the addition of features. According to industry standards, economy cars have interior space of 100-109 cubic feet. They are generally small in size and are also lighter than other car models. Economy cars are used for transportation, to make the most of their good mileage.

Compact Cars

Make no mistake, compact cars are small but are packed with features and are by no means cheap. They provide a larger boot space than economy cars and their fuel economy is also less than economy cars. They are higher priced than economy cars and have decent mileage but less than that offered by economy cars. In fact, some compact cars, though they look the same size as economy cars have poor mileage than economy cars. Compact cars have good legroom inside and can seat an extra adult inside them.
