A farewell Spectacular was organized in honor of this colorful personality who has the distinction of having interviewed nearly all celebrities in her illustrious career spanning a quarter of a century. But we are not here to talk about Oprah; we are here to find out differences between farewell and send off, words that are used in association with parties and functions organized to acknowledge the importance of the person, his contribution and association with others. People think of send off and farewell as synonyms and interchangeable; however, there are differences that will be highlighted in this article.
Send-off is always formal parties and functions that are organized as an expression of goodwill at the start of a trip or a new venture. This means that if there is a colleague who has been promoted or transferred to a new location, and has to leave, ending long association with his friends and colleagues. It is a type of farewell that is used by people to exchange their good wishes with the person who is going away to start on his new job or a venture.
Farewell is a parting salutation to a colleague who has been long involved with an institution, and is ending his association either because of his retirement or because he has got a new job. Valediction parties are also similar as they are also organized in honor of a person who is departing.
