Difference Between Flyer and Leaflet

Flyer vs Leaflet

Flyer, leaflet, pamphlet, brochure, flier, etc. are words that are heard commonly in connection with business promotion stationary. After visiting cards, these items happen to be effective tools to market a product or event. Flyer and leaflet are two words that confuse many people because of their similarities. Many people believe that the two are synonymous and use them interchangeably. However, there are little differences between a flyer and a leaflet that will be highlighted in this article.

What is a Flyer?

A small sheet of paper that is yellow, pink or white in colour and contains a printed text that is information about a shop or restaurant that is serving in your area is called a flyer. Flyer is considered cheap and effective medium of marketing and is distributed randomly to all those who pass by. It can also be distributed to homes by placing it inside newspapers. This is done through hawkers who throw newspapers in homes. The text in a flyer is kept small and it has the intention to reach out to as many people as possible.

What is a Leaflet?

A leaflet is described in many sources as a synonym for flyer. However, a leaflet is also considered to have a better design and a better appearance than a flyer as it has better colours and more expensive paper. A leaflet is, therefore, costlier than a flyer and it is also bigger in size than a flyer.

What is the difference between Flyer and Leaflet?

• Though a leaflet is considered to be of better quality than a flyer and is also larger than a flyer, the terms flyer and leaflet are used interchangeably.

• While a flyer is to promote the friendly neighborhood restaurant or dry cleaning service, a leaflet could be a flyer or it could be more than a simple promotion for a product or service.

• Leaflet contains more information than a flyer and it could be used to convey a message.
