Full vs Half Lined Suit
Full and half lined suits vary on how much layers are on them. Generally, linings are fabrics that are usually soft and/or shiny and are layered on the interior of clothing such as jackets. Linings provide comfort and warmth and conceal structural details of the clothing.
Full Lined Suit
Full lined suits have a soft fabric sewed on the interior of the jacket and runs from the neckline down to the hem. This allows for a neat finish because the stitches and other rough details are covered by this inner layer. It also gives fullness to the suit when worn. Full lined suits are usually worn during winter because it provides overall warmth to its wearer.
Half Lined Suit
Half lined suits still have that same soft fabric sewed on its interior, but it only covers a partial area of the jacket. Usually, only the sleeves or upper back of the jacket are layered in half lined suits. This is the kind that is usually worn on summer since they are more lightweight and cooler to wear due to their thin layer. Half lined suits are also more laidback.
Difference between full and half lined suit
Half lined suits give an often placid look to whomever wears it because it has thinner layers, unlike full lined suits which look fuller and richer. Full lined suits are able to keep you warm during cold weather seasons better than half lined suits because the former is fully layered with heat-trapping fabric. Because lining also serves to cover up rough edges of cloth pieces and other stitching details found on the interior, full lined suits are neater to look at and easier to put on, as opposed to half lined suits which may tend to look untidy on the inside.
You should consider the weather-appropriate comfort you need and the kind of style you are going for when deciding whether to buy full or half lined suits.
In brief: • Full lined suits are totally layered with soft fabric in its interior and are therefore generally warmer and heavier to wear. • Half lined suits are only partially layered with soft fabric in its interior, usually only on the sleeves or on the upper back, and are thus cooler and lighter to wear.
