Difference Between Gasoline Power and Electric Power Cars

Gasoline Power vs Electric Power Cars

As the name suggests, gasoline power cars and electric power cars use different power sources to move the car. Gasoline cars have an internal combustion engine, and it burns the fuel inside the engine and gives the power. In electric cars, there is a battery pack that provides electricity to an electric motor via a controller that determines how much energy the car needs at any given moment. That electric motor turns a transmission, and the transmission turns the wheels. Both electric and gasoline cars have distinct advantages and disadvantages. For instance, gasoline power cars can be simply refueled at a fuel station whenever it wants. However, in electric cars, the batteries have to be regularly recharged in order to have the power, and it will take some hours to charge. At the same time, electric cars can be considered as zero emission vehicles since they do not produce any emission. However, gasoline cars, as the fuel burns in the combustion engine they do produce some unhealthy emissions.

Gasoline Powered Cars

Gasoline car has an internal combustion engine, and it burns fuel. The power gain due to that combustion process is used to turn the wheels, and likewise it moves the car. However, these gasoline cars are highly inefficient since they lose 60% of the energy from the petroleum due to natural design of the combustion engine. Gasoline cars produce Carbon Dioxide as its main unhealthy emission. At the same time, people who are using gasoline cars face some common problems such as bad fuel mixing, sparking problems etc. There may be impurities in the fuel so that there can arise some engine problems, as well. However, gasoline cars remain the kings of the roads. The gasoline has comparatively higher energy density than batteries do. Therefore, gasoline cars have the ability to gain a higher speed from a full stop within few seconds.

Electric Powered Cars

Electric powered cars are a latest technology that the automobile industry has today. As people were longing for an eco-friendly vehicle, electric car came in as an ideal solution for that. Since it has no emission, electric cars have been labeled as an eco-friendly car. The main technology used in electric cars is that, it has a battery pack and it produces the energy (electricity) to drive an electric motor. The electric motor is then joined with a transmission, and the transmission drives the wheels since they are connected with each other. Normally an electric powered car has to be recharged after driving 100 miles. That is rather a disadvantage it has. In addition, there are not many charging stations as like the fuel stations we have everywhere. Therefore, before you go on a ride, you have to recharge the batteries, and it will take normally 7 hours via 230-volt outlet.

Electric cars normally have less weight than gasoline cars. Because it has a small engine, the torque is being reduced in electric car. Therefore, it will take more time to reach the maximum speed of it. Nissan Leaf is a very good example for a car that uses the fully electric powered technology.
