Difference Between Google.com and Google.co.uk

Google.com vs Google.co.uk

For making searches on the net, probably there is no other search engine more popular than Google. For international users, Google has a search engine known as Google.com. The suffix .com denotes commercial. The basic purpose of the search engine is to help in surfing and to bring in search results as quickly as possible. With the number of internet surfers increasing exponentially, Google has chosen to take help of servers at different locations such as one for Asia, one for Europe and so on. So if a person in England tries to make a search on Google, he will get results through Google.co.uk and not Google.com which means he will get search suggestions based upon search preferences of the people in UK which might be a little different from search preferences on Google.com.

For all practical purposes, there is no difference in the results of Google.com and Google.co.uk. So if a US national goes to UK and tries to make a search on Google.com, he will be routed through Google.co.uk and may see results that are area specific and not what he gets when he is in his country. It is only natural for the search engine to show an inclination to favor area specific sites rather than show results that are international. However if the same person is in China, he may get results in Google.co.ch which might be a bit problematical for him if he has no knowledge of the Chinese language.

To reduce the load on the servers this is a practice that is being favored by all search engines. This actually helps the users to not only get faster search results but also to get a view of the results that are mostly made in that area.

Google.com vs Google.co.uk

• Google.com and Google.co.uk are practically same with the only difference being a preference towards area specific sites.

• It is a practice indulged in by Google to provide better services to its users.

• Google.com has a suffix .com that denotes commercial version whereas Google.co.uk has a suffix uk that denotes that the user is in UK. For every country there is a specific suffix that is added at the end of Google.com
