Hip hop vs Ballet

Hip hop and Ballet are two of the common dance styles in the world which have a narrative-like kind of dancing. Both of these styles includes some turns, jumps, balanced movement and should be in sync with their each kind of music.

In 1900’s, the youth in Bronx, New York started to dance hip-hop music in the streets. What happened on that day marked the beginning of the modern day hip-hop culture which is also greatly influenced by MC rapping and break dancing. The unique and interesting moves of hip-hop are locking and popping in accord with the music. It’s like the beats of the music is passing through the dancers bodies.

Ballet

Ballet is a formal dance style that are originally introduced in Italy around 15th century but is considered by others to start in France since the French are the innovators of the present ballet that we are witnessing today. Ballet movements are very elegant, poised, and flexible. Their movements must be conducted with 100% precision because even a simple flick of a finger denotes a specific emotion.

Ballet dancing requires dancers who are slender, small, and flexible while in hip-hop dancing there is no requirement needed as long as you can jive to the hip-hop music and can do a basic popping and locking movements. Hip-hop can just be learned around the corner of your seats whereas Ballet needs to be learned inside a ballet school. You could possibly learn hip-hop in a just a few days or months but in Ballet, you need to years of disciplined training to perfect the techniques and polish your precision.

Only few people are gaining interest in Ballet, commonly to those having their father or mother or ancestors as great ballet dancers, due to its strict training and years of practicing that needs patience which not all people are blessed with.
