Hip Hop vs Rock
Hip hop and Rock are two of the many genre of music that evolves around mid 60s-70s. They both strike the importance of the instruments use. Incidentally, these two music genres originate in the United States and are consistently evolving as of today.
Hip Hop
Hip hop, which was popularly introduced in New York in the 70s, has a very interesting history. Even though majority of the people believed that it started in Bronx, New York, the history of Hip hop music can be traced back as far as the slavery period. The Afro-Americans in plantations and farms started to rap and beat box since they can’t get hold of any musical instruments.
Rock music
Rock music is synonymous to rock and roll. It began to gain fame and popularity around mid-50s in Europe and America. Rock includes heavy sound of electric guitars and drums and the addition of synthesizers around 1960s. The most popular rock icon until today which is known for his evocative dancing is no other than Elvis Presley, the King of Rock and Roll.
Difference between Hip Hop and Rock
Rock is more on electric guitars accompanied by heavy drums (usually double pedal drums) and for others it produced noise rather than music. While Hip hop on the other hand has cool music that includes beat boxing behind the rapping. The lyrics in Hip hop songs are very meaningful which talks about freedom, justice, and poverty. As society develops, rock also emerges new sub-genres like heavy metal and hardcore rock. As for Hip hop, they have developed their own style of dancing; the hip hop dance and break dancing are amongst the few.
The advancement of these two musical genres greatly influences the cultures of every country. Though a number of people, especially the old ones, find rock music very disturbing and insane, there are actually good qualities with it if you just keep on trying to listen with this kind of music. And in Hip hop, teenagers and juveniles are their number one followers due to its cool and smooth rhythm.
