Difference Between Homosexual and Heterosexual

Homosexual vs Heterosexual

Homosexual and heterosexual are two of the three kinds of sexual orientation of an individual. Bisexuality is the third one. When the three are combined, they formed a continuum called as heterosexual-homosexual continuum which refers to the transition from heterosexuality to homosexuality.

Homosexuals

Homosexuals are those who are attracted or having desires over another person of the same sex. A gay or lesbian is a concrete example of homosexuals. According to a certain research, 10 percent of the world’s populations are homosexuals and 49 percent of these are gays while the 51 percent are lesbians. Homosexuality amongst the youth is increasing lately due to rampant isolation, rejection, and hostility of the opposite sex.

Heterosexuals

Heterosexuals are people who desire affectionate and romantic relationships towards the opposite sex. This is commonly known as the normal sexual orientation of the people. Another term for heterosexuals is straight. Based on the same research as above, 75 percent of populations in the world are heterosexuals. The 15 percent left are considered as bisexuals. It was around 1960s that the term heterosexual are commonly used.

Difference between Homosexual and Heterosexual

Unlike heterosexuals who are acknowledged by the society as normal beings, homosexuals are considered as abnormals and a subject of criticisms before in the past. Homosexuals are those who admire and desire another person of the same sex whereas the heterosexuals are the complete opposite who admires romantically another person of the opposite sex. You may consider those in men to men or women to women relationship as homosexuals. On the other hand, those who prefer are in men to women relationship are the heterosexuals. Of the worlds total populations, 10% are homosexuals while 75% are heterosexuals, 15% are bisexuals.

Everyday, people are being oriented and informed about homosexuality that’s why they are now slowly accepted by other countries like China. Homosexuality in China was considered as a mental disorder until 2001. In India, it was a crime for two homosexuals to have sexual intercourse.

• Homosexuals are those in involve with same sex relationships while heterosexuals are those in opposite sex relationships.

• Homosexuals comprise only 10% of the total population in the world whereas the heterosexuals comprise 75%. The other 15% are bisexuals.
