HTC Sense is a Graphical User Interface designed by HTC on Android Platform for their Smartphones and tablets. Even though Android is the platform for Smartphones and tablets manufacturers customize it and install on their devices. HTC version of the skinned Android is called HTC Sense and it was introduced to offer personalization experience to users and adds some small but unexpected features to make users delighted. “Make it mine,” “stay close” and “discover unexpected” are the themes of HTC Sense. The last version of the HTC UX was HTC Sense 2.0.
HTC has released the latest version of Sense UI with its new smartphones, HTC Sensation and HTC Sensation 4G in mid April 2011. The Latest version of HTC Sense is 3.0.
HTC Sense 2.0
HTC calls HTC Sense 2.0 as a social intelligence that’s designed to give unique experience to users with its many small but intelligent applications. The HTC Sense 2.0 enables fast boot and has added many new multimedia features. HTC Sense has enhanced camera application with many camera features like full screen viewfinder, touch focus, onscreen access to camera adjustments and effects.
The other features include HTC locations with on-demand mapping (service depend on the carrier), integrated e-reader that support text search from Wikipedia, Google, Youtube or dictionary. Browsing is made enjoyable with features like magnifier, quick look up to look for a word, Wikipedia search, Google search, YouTube search, Google translate and Google dictionary. You can also add a new window for browsing or move from one to another windows by zooming in and out.
HTC Sense 2.0 also offers a good music player, which is better than the standard Android music player. There are many other small features with htc sense that give a beautiful experience to users. Some of them include Flip to silence, preview your drive, map with compass, catch all calls – rings louder when phone is concealed inside and social status update of the person calling.
The first version HTC Sense had following features in addition to personalization are: dial by name, location awareness – when you arrive at a new location the clock and weather automatically changes to local time and weather and your calender appointments also automatically adjusted to local time, search depend on the application you are in, touch to zoom, bookmarks and foot print.
HTC introduced an online service (htcsense.com) to enhance HTC Sense. HTC Inspire 4G and HTC Desire HD are the first devices to enhance the HTC Sense experience with htcsense.com. Locating the missing phone is one of the popular features of the htcsense.com online service. This service allows people to locate a lost phone on a map, send a command to make the phone sound an alert, the phone will ring even when it’s on “silent” mode. And the phone’s data can be remotely wiped with a single command, if needed.

The new Sense UI gives a fresh look to the home screen with a new 3D home screen and has included instant capture camera, customizable active lockscreen, 3D transitions and an immersive experience with the weather application. With instant capture camera you won’t have the hazzle of shutter delays, the photo is captured the moment you press the button. Active lock screen is made into a customizable live window.
