HTC Titan vs HTC Radar | HTC Radar vs Titan Speed, Performance, Features compared
HTC has unveiled two new phones, HTC Titan and HTC Radar, at the IFA 2011 in Berlin on 1st September. Both are Windows Mango based phones, and will run the latest Windows Phone 7.5. Also, both are 3G GSM/WCDMA phones. Following is a review on the similarities and differences of the two devices.
HTC Titan
HTC Titan is a Windows Phone 7 smart phone officially announced in September 2011. The official release is expected by October 2011. HTC introduces the device both as a smart phone for work as well as entertainment.
HTC Titan is 5.18” tall and has a thickness of 0.39”. The device weighs 160 g. HTC Titan sports a reasonable 4.8” S-LCD capacitive touch screen with 480 x 800 pixels resolution. In terms of sensors, HTC Titan has an accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, a Gyro Sensor, G-Sensor, Digital compass, Proximity sensor for auto turn off and an ambient light sensor.
HTC Titan has a 1.5 GHz Scorpion processor coupled with an Adreno 205 GPU. The processing power onboard HTC Titan will make multi tasking, graphics manipulation and switching between applications more efficient. The device has a 512 MB RAM with 16 GB storage. A micro SD card slot is not available with HTC Titan. The device supports micro USB as well. In terms of connectivity the device supports 3G UMTS/WCDMA, HSDPA, HSUPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
HTC Titan has quite an impressive camera quality with an 8 megapixel rear facing camera with F2.2 lens, dual LED flash, and BSI sensor (for better low-light captures). The image quality of the rear camera is impressive for a camera on a smart phone. The rear facing camera comes with auto focus as well as geo tagging and it’s capable of 720p HD video recording (mp4). HTC Titan also has a 1.3 megapixel front camera for video conferencing.
The multimedia support on HTC Titan is impressive with full blown audio, video and image support. Music and Videos Hub is powered by Zune. It allows listening to radio, download music, and listening to favorite music on the go. HTC Titan includes Dolby Mobile and SRS sound enhancement with 5.1 surround sound for video. Pictures Hub allows to view photos of the user in multiple social networking sites.The supported audio files formats are m4a, .m4b, .mp3, .wma (Windows Media Audio 9). The supported video file formats are 3gp, .3g2, .mp4, .m4v, .mbr, .wmv (Windows Media Video 9 and VC-1). A 3.5mm audio jack is also available on HTC Titan.
HTC Titan is powered by Microsoft Windows Phone 7 (a.k.a Mango). As a Windows Phone device HTC Titan is coupled with tight social networking integration with Facebook, Twitter and Windows Live applications. Multimedia is categorized by Videos Hub, Music Hub and Photo Hub. Pocket Office enables viewing Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and PDF viewer files and it also enables editing Word and Excel files. Handy applications such as YouTube client, predictive text input and voice memo are also available with HTC Titan. Additional applications for HTC Titan can be downloaded from Windows market. Gaming experience on HTC Titan is powered by Zune.
HTC Titan has a Standard battery ( Li-Ion 1600 mAh) allowing more than 11 hours of talk time.
Overall, HTC Titan is a suitable phone for entertainment , gaming, social networking and work as well.
HTC Radar
HTC Radar is a Windows phone by HTC officially announced in September 2011.The device is expected to be released in October.
At 4.74″ height and 2.42 width HTC Radar remains a standard size smart phone in the current smart phone market. HTC Radar is only 0.43″ thick and weighs nearly 137 grams. The device comes with a 3.8” S-LCD capacitive touch screen with 480 x 800 pixels resolution. As the display is made out of gorilla glass it’ll be scratch proof and will add additional strength. Gorilla glass seems popular among smart phone manufacturers during the 3rd quarter of 2011. In terms of sensors HTC Radar includes an accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, Proximity sensor for auto turn-off, a gyroscope sensor and an ambient light sensor.
HTC Radar runs on a 1 GHz Scorpion processor coupled with an Adreno 205 GPU. Among the two Windows Phones announced by HTC in September HTC Radar has the lesser processing power. But that will not effect the smooth performance of HTC Radar in any noticeable amount. The device has a 512 MB RAM with 8 GB storage. A micro SD card slot is not available with HTC Radar. The device supports micro USB as well. In terms of connectivity the device supports 3G UMTS/WCDMA, HSDPA, HSUPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
