Industrial vs Commercial
To understand the difference between industrial and commercial, one should simply look at how these two terms are used in the English language. These two words are used with different senses. For example, there is industrial property as well as commercial property. At the same time, in the sense of business, there is industrial sector as well as commercial sector. When we think about commercial, we associate the term normally with profit. Then, when we think about industrial, we normally associate that term with the production process. Since production process and profit go hand in hand one might think both industrial and commercial mean the same. That, however, is a false assumption. Though the terms have meanings that are somewhat connected, that does not mean they are the same. Therefore, in this article we will explore what industrial and commercial stand for.
What does Industrial mean?
The word industrial is the adjective of the noun industry. So the meaning of the word industrial, according to the American Heritage Dictionary is ‘of, relating to, or resulting from the manufacturing industry.’ For example, industrial noise (this is a result of industry) and industrial expansion (this is something related to industry).
With this main definition of the term industrial, you may have guessed the meaning of the term industrial sector. An industrial sector consists of businesses that are engaged in producing or manufacturing items.
Industrial property
Then, there is also industrial property. Industrial property is used for industrial purposes. In other words, an industrial property is used for manufacturing purposes. For example, a factory is an industrial property since it is the place where some product is manufactured. These properties are usually situated in the outskirts of the city. They do not have much of an appearance as they do not have to face much of a crowd on a daily basis.
What does Commercial mean?
The word commercial is the adjective of the noun commerce. So, naturally commercial has the meaning of something related to commerce. For example, commercial agreement, commercial loan, etc.
Then, we come to the term commercial sector. Commercial sector consists of businesses in that people engage in with the aim of earning a profit. In such a business, different methods are followed in order to earn profit. For example, products can be prepared in large quantities so that they can be distributed among a large number of customers. Such products are known as commercial products. An example of a commercial product is mobile phones. They are produced in large numbers. They contain a number of features that ensure they will be sold without causing a profit loss to the company.
Commercial property
Commercial property is used to sell the goods that are manufactured in industrial properties. So, commercial property is much more attractive as they should attract customers. Commercial property is usually situated in the heart of a city.
What is the difference between Industrial and Commercial?
• Industrial means something that relates to the manufacturing industry. It can also mean something that is the result of manufacturing industry. Commercial means something related to commerce.
• Industrial sector consists of businesses that are engaged in producing or manufacturing items. Commercial sector consists of businesses in that people engage in with the aim of earning a profit.
• Industrial property is used for industrial purposes. In other words, an industrial property is used for manufacturing purposes. Commercial property is used to sell the goods that are manufactured in industrial properties.
• Industrial property is less expensive than commercial property.
