iPhone 5 is the fifth generation iPhone by Apple expected to be announced on 4 October 2011 and released to the market in two weeks time. Samsung Galaxy S II for T-Mobile (T-Mobile Galaxy S2) is an Android smart phone officially announced in August 2011 by Samsung. It’s the T-Mobile version of the popular Galaxy S II that was officially announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February 2011, and released by mid 2011. Samsung also has upgraded the hardware, in addition to the HSPA+42Mbps support. The processor speed is upgraded to 1.5GHz; also the display is 4.5″, instead of the 4.3″ in the original Galaxy S2. The device is expected to be available with T-Mobile from 12 October 2011. Following is a review on the similarities and differences of the two devices.

iPhone 5

iPhone 5 is expected to feature the same dual core A5 processor used in iPad 2, and in tandem with Qualcomm LTE modem. The design is almost same as iPhone 4 but will have a 4″ edge to edge display with a metal back cover and a more powerful camera, mostly 8MP camera with enhanced features. Apple will introduced its own NFC system (Near Field Communication) in iPhone 5. It will also include a better battery in iPhone 5, so that for 4G connectivity, it still can stay for 9 hours. iPhone 5 also will be released with iOS 5.

Following are the features anticipated in iPhone 5.

– Support 4G-LTE network

– More storage capacity

– Enhanced YouTube player and mail client specially for gmail

– 8 MP camera to capture high quality picture and videos

– USB Tethering for internet and Personal hotspot

– Multi finger gestures

– TV and Content Providers are expected to release more apps for iPhone 5, and it will become like mobile TV.

Samsung Galaxy S II for T-Mobile

Samsung Galaxy S II for T-Mobile is an Android smart phone released by Samsung. The device was officially announced in August 2011. This new T-Mobile variant of the Samsung Galaxy S II family enables users to connect to T-Mobile’s high speed HSPA+42Mbps data network. The device will be available with T-Mobile from 12 October 2011.

The dimensions of  T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II are more or less similar to the Galaxy S II but may appear slightly bigger. The device is 5.11” long, 2.7 “broad and 0.37” thick. The weight is nearly 130 g. T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II is complete with a 4.5″ Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touch screen with 480 x 800 resolution. It’s important to note that the screen real estate is larger than its original counterpart Samsung Galaxy S II. This multi touch screen has superior quality in the Samsung Galaxy S II family as coupled with the strength and ability to remain scratch proof as it’s made from Gorilla glass. T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II comes with TouchWiz UI 4.0.

T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II is equipped with a super fast 1.5 GHz dual core processor. The device also has 1 GB memory and 16 GB internal storage. Internal storage can be expanded using a micro-SD card up to 32 GB. However, an 8 GB SD card is included with the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II. The device also supports micro USB and USB-on-the-go. In terms of connectivity (which is the plus feature in T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II), the device boasts HSPA+42Mbps. While Bluetooth and Wi-Fi is available, IR is not enabled in T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II. The device is complete with sensors such as Gyroscope, Proximity sensor, a digital compass, and Accelerometer for UI rotate.

Cameras are always preferred features in Samsung Galaxy S family. T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II comes with an 8 mega pixel rear facing camera with auto focus and LED flash. Features such as Geo-tagging, touch focus, and face detection is also available to support the superior hardware. A front facing 2 mega pixel camera is also available with this high end smart phone. While the 4.5” super AMOLED screen is capable of giving the best video display a phone can give T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II is complete with FM radio, a loud speaker a 3.5 mm audio jack. Active noise cancellation with dedicated microphone and HDMI TV out are other important features of T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II.

T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II is powered by Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread). However, the user interface is customized by TouchWiz UI 4.0. SMS, MMS, push email, and IM applications are available for communication with Android 2.3, and T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II also includes these handy capabilities. Useful productivity applications such as Organizer, Document editor, Image/Video editor, Voice commands and Google applications are available in T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II.
