John Kerry vs Hillary Clinton
President Barack Obama has named Senator John Kerry as his next Secretary of State to replace Hillary Clinton. The President has begun the exercise to reshuffle his cabinet and described Senator John Kerry as an ideal choice for the post of the most important diplomat of the country. All eyes have turned focus upon the incumbent, and there are people who have started to make speculations about the differences between Hilary Clinton and John Kerry. This article attempts to find out differences in views and policies of the outgoing and the incumbent secretaries of state of the US.
John Kerry
John Kerry is one of the senior most Senators of the country serving the office since 1985. He contested 2004 Presidential elections on the platform of Democratic Party. Born in Colorado, Kerry got a majors degree in Political Science from Yale University. He did a brief service for the army where he won several awards while doing duty in Vietnam. He returned and got his law degree from Boston College Law School. He got a chance to serve as Assistant District Attorney. In 1984, he was elected to the US Senate for the first time. He has been a senator since then and has been nominated by the President to succeed Hillary Clinton as the next Secretary of State.
Hillary Clinton
Hillary Clinton was the first lady of the US for 8 years when her husband Bill Clinton was the President of the country from 1993-2001. She was elected a Senator of New York since 2001and in 2009 she was nominated as the secretary of State by President Barack Obama in 2009. She obtained her law degree from Yale in 1973. She briefly served as a legal counsel for Congress before marrying Bill Clinton in 1975. She was a partner at Rose Law Firm and was twice nominated among the most influential lawyers of the country. She played an active role in the creation of Children’s Health Insurance Plan, Foster Care Independence Act, and Adoption and Safe Families Act. In the year 2000, Hillary was elected a senator for the first time and that also marked the first time a First Lady of US had ever become a senator. She was in the race for the Presidential election in 2008, but despite winning a record number of primaries as a female candidate, she lost out to fellow Democrat Barack Obama. Obama, however, nominated her as the Secretary of State after becoming the President for the first time in 2008.
