Lenovo IdeaTab S2110A vs iPad 3 (Apple new iPad)
Lenovo is well known for the superior quality of their laptops. Many professionals in the IT related industries prefer to use Lenovo Laptops. This is because these laptops are durable, highly efficient and way ahead of their time enabling them to use the laptop for prolonged durations of times without getting outdated. Although this is the case, Lenovo Laptops are only moderately popular among common crowds. This is mainly because of the expensive price tag they carry. So when they came in to the mobile computing market by introducing smartphones and tablets, we were trying to understand which market they are trying to appeal. At that time, it seems they were trying to appeal the same market as their laptops, but as time passed and new models were introduced, we concluded that Lenovo is actually trying to reach a diverse market with a diverse set of products. One such incident is the release of three new tablets falling in to high end, mid-range, and budget range.
However, the high end tablet that Lenovo released, which is known as Lenovo IdeaTab S2110A, was revealed before in CES 2012 with a different name. It was previously known as IdeaTab S 2. This rebranding has got some of the best analysts in the arena confused and Lenovo might have to expect some confusion from the customer’s side, as well. Lenovo IdeaTad S2110A Review
The Lenovo IdeaTab S2110A has 10.1 inches IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and 10 points multi-touch, which is a state of the art screen panel and resolution. It has 178° viewing angle. Lenovo IdeaTab S2110A has 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 8960 dual core processor with 1GB of RAM. This beast of hardware is controlled by Android OS v4.0 IceCreamSandwich, and Lenovo has included a completely modified UI called Mondrain UI for their Idea Tab.
Lenovo Idea Tab S2110A comes in three storage configurations, 16 / 32 / 64 GBs with the ability to expand the storage using a microSD card. It features 5MP rear camera with auto focus and geo-tagging with Assisted GPS. While the camera isn’t that good, it has decent performance verifiers. IdeaTab S2110A will come in 3G connectivity, not 4G connectivity, which certainly is a surprise, and it also has Wi-Fi 801.11 b/g/n for continuous connectivity, and this tablet can control a smart TV so they have a variation of DLNA included in IdeaTab S2110A, as well. It also has a micro HDMI port that can be used to connect to a HDTV for full HD viewing.
Following the footsteps of Asus, Lenovo IdeaTab S2110A also comes with a keyboard dock that has some additional battery life, as well as, additional ports and an optical track pad. It’s such a good concept to be replicated from Asus, and we reckon it would be a deal changer for Lenovo IdeaTab S2110A.
Lenovo has also made this Tablet rather thin scoring a mere 8.69mm of thickness and 580g of weight, which is surprisingly light. The inbuilt battery can score up to 9 -10 hours as per Lenovo, and if you hook it up with the keyboard dock, 20 hours of total battery life is guaranteed by Lenovo which is a very good move.
Apple iPad 3 (The new iPad) Review
There had been many speculations about Apple iPad 3 (The new iPad) before its release because it had such a pull from the customer’s end. Apple has added many of those features to iPad 3 (new iPad) to make it a consistent and revolutionary device. The new iPad (iPad 3) comes with a 9.7 inches HD IPS retina display that features a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels at a pixel density of 264ppi. This is a huge barrier that Apple has broken, and they have introduced 1 million more pixels to the generic 1920 x 1080 pixels display which used to be the best resolution a mobile device provides. The total number of pixels adds up to 3.1 million, which is actually a monster resolution that hasn’t been matched by any tablet currently available in the market. Apple guarantees that iPad 3 has 44% more color saturation compared to previous models and, in fact, photos and texts look wonderful in the big screen.
That’s not all about it; the new iPad has 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 dual core CPU with quad core SGX 543MP4 GPU built into the Apple A5X Chipset. Apple claims A5X to offer two-times the graphic performance of an A5 chipset used in iPad 2. It is, needless to say, that this processor will make everything work smooth and seamlessly with 1GB of RAM. The new iPad (iPad 3) has three variations based on internal storage, which is enough to stuff all of your favorite TV shows.
The new iPad runs on Apple iOS 5.1, which is a great operating system with a very intuitive user interface. There is a physical home button available at the bottom of the device, as usual. The next big feature Apple introduces is iSight camera, which is 5MP with autofocus and auto-exposure using a backside illuminated sensor. It has an IR filter built into it which is really great. The camera can also capture 1080p HD videos, and they have smart video stabilization software integrated with the camera which is a good move. This slate also supports the best digital assistant in the world, Siri which was supported by iPhone 4S only.
The new iPad also comes with 4G LTE connectivity apart from EV-DO, HSDPA, HSPA+21Mbps, DC-HSDPA+42Mbps, though 4G connectivity is region based. LTE supports speeds up to 73Mbps. Apple has built separate LTE variations for AT&T and Verizon. The LTE device makes the best use of LTE network and loads everything super-fast and handled the load very well. Apple also claims the new iPad is the device that supports most number of bands ever. It is said to have Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n for continuous connectivity, which was expected by default. Fortunately, you can let your new iPad share your internet connection with your friends by making it a Wi-Fi hotspot. The new iPad (iPad 3) is 9.4mm thick and has a weight of 1.44-1.46lbs, which is rather comforting, though it is slightly thicker and heftier than iPad 2. The new iPad promises a battery life of 10 hours on normal usage and 9 hours on 3G/4G usage, which is another game changer for the new iPad.
The new iPad is available in either Black or White, and the 16GB variant is offered at $499 which is rather low. The 4G version of the same storage capacity is offered at $629 which is still a good deal. There are two other variants, 32GB and 64GB which comes at $599 / $729 and $699 / $829 respectively without 4G and with 4G.
