Difference Between LTE and VoLTE

The key difference between LTE and VoLTE is that LTE may or may not support voice and data simultaneously and it can result in reducing the voice quality while VoLTE supports both voice and data simultaneously without affecting the voice quality. Also, call connection speed in VoLTE is higher than of the LTE.

LTE or 4G LTE is a standard for high-speed wireless communication for mobile devices and data terminals. It provides fast data speeds than 3G and 4G. On the other hand, VoLTE is a superior standard than the LTE. These technologies are popular across the globe and mobile internet service providers. They provide fast data transferring capabilities for the user.

What is LTE?

LTE stands for Long Term Evolution. It is a standard for high-speed wireless communication for mobile devices and data terminals. There are many technologies and those categorize to various generations. The letter ‘G’ denotes the generation. There is 3G, 4G etc. and the main difference is the speed. The latest is the 4G LTE. It is faster compared to Wi-Fi, 3G, and 4G.

Usually, LTE supports a download speed of 100MBits per second and upload speed of 50MBits per second. The LTE advanced supports download speed of 1GBits per second and upload speed of 500MBits per second. Overall, it provides high-speed data transferring, multimedia videos, secure database access and many more.

What is VoLTE?

VoLTE stands for Voice Over Long Term Evolution. With LTE, when the user makes a voice call while keeping the data connection on, it might minimize the quality of the voice. VoLTE is a good option to solve this issue. It is a technology, that allows the users to simultaneously send voice and data over the network without reducing the voice quality. It is superior technology and provides multiple advantages. Firstly, voice quality is high. Secondly, the user can keep the data connection on while making a voice call. Thirdly, it allows connecting calls faster. Furthermore, it works well on high frequencies as wells.

What is the Difference Between LTE and VoLTE?

Both LTE and VoLTE are high-speed wireless communication standards. LTE stands for Long Term Evolution whereas VoLTE stands for Voice Over Long Term Evolution. LTE may or may not support voice call and data services simultaneously while VoLTE supports both voice call and data transmission services simultaneously.

Moreover, in LTE, using data and voice at the same time can minimize the voice quality. On the other hand, VoLTE will not affect the voice quality when using both voice and data at the same time. Furthermore, the call connection speed in VoLTE is higher than of the LTE.

Summary – LTE vs VoLTE

The difference between LTE and VoLTE is that LTE may or may not support voice and data simultaneously and it can result in reducing the voice quality while VoLTE supports both voice and data simultaneously without affecting the voice quality. In brief, VoLTE is an enhanced standard than LTE.
