Mahindra’s Scorpio Vlx AT and Toyota’s Innova are two popular four wheel drives in India. These two luxury vehicles have adopted many latest technologies and have carefully designed the vehicles giving priority for comfort and safety. The elegant curvy Innova and powerful Scorpio have certain unique features that differentiate them in the market place.
Interior:
Innova – Versatile usage of space, wood grained ergonomically designed instrument panel, AC vents in all three rows (independent vents for 2 & 3rd row), automatic climate control, bottle holders for every passenger. It has big cargo space in the back, two tone colour interior, fabric upholstery, and Sun visor with vanity for all.
Scorpio – Central bezel, IP & console are perfectly designed with adequate storage space, two tone fabric upholstery, illuminated key ring, remote fuel lid opener located on the front dashboard, Bluetooth that help you connect to your mobile right from the steering wheel and allow hands free call.
Exterior:
Innova – 3D front grille, superior multi reflector headlamps, electrically operated ORVMs, Fog lamps, side protection moulding, distinct rear combination lamp, rear wipers, grip type door handle, bonnet slopes for better visibility in the front (4420 mm), and alloy wheels.
Scorpio – Electrically operated ORVMs (outside rear view mirrors), rear demister, rear wipers, fog lamps, multi-focal reflector headlamps, headlamps glow for several minutes after you lock up, illuminated footboards, tough bumpers to defend the body, side protective cladding, easy grip door handle, alloy wheels.
It has roof-top aerodynamic ski-racks giving more space for storage on long trips.
Engine:
Innova – VVT-i (Variable valve timing – intelligence) petrol engine is a Toyota’s award winning technology for fuel economy and low emission. Its coefficient of drag is 0.35 for better performance and mileage. The diesel engine uses common-rail turbo diesels (CRD-4D) with Toyota Hybrid System (THS).
Scorpio – mHawk engine also uses common rail diesel engine technology. But the engine is 20% more powerful than Innova and the acceleration is effortless..
Comfort
Innova – Adjustable separate seats with bench seat at the rear. All seats are sliding and reclining and seats are ergonomically designed.
Scorpio – Middle row has sliding seats in 8 seaters. Individual armrests are on first row seats, centre armrest on second row seats and seats are ergonomically designed.
Same suspension technology is adopted by both vehicles.
Safety
Scorpio – Dual front airbags, Anti-lock braking system (ABS), Speed alert & voice assist system if door not locked or seat belt not fastened, Crumple zones at key points absorb most of the impact in case of a collision, unyielding steel bars in the doors, fire retardant upholstery, collapsible steering column, child protector lock, Bluevision headlamps are designed to take the stress out of night driving, Blue Vision bulbs ensure better visibility in the dark.
Innova – Body constructed according to Toyota’s safety standard, SRS Airbags on driver and passenger side with 3-point ELR(Emergency locking retractor) seatbelts for all passengers, large disc brake in the front, Anti-lock braking system to control brakes in emergency and avoid wheels locking, collapsible steering column, high rigidity frame, side door impact beams, rear window defogger, theft deterrent system, child protector lock.
