Difference Between Mass and Weight

Mass vs Weight

Mass is a measure of a substance, whereas weight is the force generated by gravitation on a mass. Mass is constant; it is how much matter an object is having but weight of the same object differs due to the gravitational force.  For example, if you go to moon your weight would change because the gravity is less compared to earth (gravity in moon is 0.1655 times the gravity in earth) but on the other hand, if you go to Sun (impossible but for the explanation purpose only) it’s 27.9 times higher than in earth.

Mass is a constant, m. But weight w = mg, where g is gravitation. g is 9.8226 m/s2

Same mass is different in weight depending on the gravity.
