Men’s Shoe Size vs Women’s Shoe Size

Men’s shoe size and women’s shoe size differ due to the anatomical difference in men and women. When choosing for that perfect pair of shoes, it is important that we select the one that fits us perfectly. It is vital that we are aware about the size difference.

Men’s Shoe Size

Men’s shoe sizes are obviously bigger than the women’s for obvious reason that the shape of their feet is far wider, longer and more elongated than that of a woman. Also their feet structure is quite different, given that they have lower or flat arches. It is said that the shoe sizes for men are a size or two bigger than women.

Women’s Shoe Size

Women’s sizes are of course generally smaller than compared to men’s. Structure wise, they have narrower and pointier feet, which means that in term of width, women’s sizes are narrower. There is lots of research that says that women’s shoe size is two sizes lower than that of their male counterparts. The other main cause is that the shoe’s structure in regards to the women’s body structures and movements.

Difference between men’s and women’s shoe sizes

It is quite obvious that there would be dissimilarities when it comes to sizes, since to start with the anatomical structure from both sexes are also different. It is but only wise for the shoe manufacturers to adjust with the differences. One of the most reliable measuring devices for foot sizes would be the Brannock Device in which one puts his foot on the long sliding metal scale to measure the size of the foot. According to this device and also based on linear measurement, the difference of the sizes from both sexes would be as much as one to two sizes.

Perhaps, the most important would be to know exactly how our right shoes size to avoid pain during walking and avoiding damage to our gait. It is vital as well to be comfortable with our footwear to better enjoy whatever endeavor we have.

• Men’s shoe sizes are obviously bigger than the women’s for obvious reason that the shape of their feet is far wider, longer and more elongated than that of a woman.
