Motorola Xoom vs Motorola 4G LTE Xoom

Motorola Xoom and Motorola 4G LTE Xoom are the same by all means except for the 4G-LTE support. Motorola Xoom will support 3G Network initially while it is 4G ready. Motorola 4G LTE Xoom will come with built in support for 4G-LTE. However those who purchase Motorola Xoom will get the full 4G upgrade when it is available (expected in May 2011).

Motorola Xoom was the first device released on Android 3.0 Honeycomb, an OS designed entirely for tablets. Motorola Xoom is an award winning tablet packed with powerful features such as 1 GHz dual core NVIDA Tegra processor, 1GB RAM and comes with 10.1″ HD capacitive touchscreen with higher resolution 1280 x 800 and 16:10 aspect ratio, 5.0 megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash, 720p video recording, 2 megapixel front camera, 32 GB Internal memeory, extendable up to 32 GB, HDMI TV out and DNLA, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n.

The device has built-in gyroscope, barometer, e-compass, accelerometer and adaptive lighting for new types of applications. The tablet can be a mobile hot spot with the capability to connect up to five Wi-fi devices.

The tablet dimension is 9.80″ (249mm) x 6.61″ (167.8mm) x 0.51(12.9mm) and weighs 25.75 oz (730g).

All these features remain same for 4G-LTE Xoom as well. The only difference between Motorola Xoom and 4G LTE Xoom is that LTE Xoom comes with built in support for 4G-LTE.

With 4G LTE you can experience more than 10 times faster download within the 4G coverage area compared to what you experience now at 3G network speed. You can download movies and songs in seconds.

The carrier for Xoom in U.S. is Verizon, it runs on Verizon’s CDMA Network and LTE Xoom will support Verizon’s 4G-LTE network, proposed in Q2 2011. Verizon has already informed the procedure for 4G upgrade in its website and your original device will be upgraded to 4G free of charge. Verizon’s 4G LTE network delivers an average download speed of 5-12 Mbps and upload speed of 2-5 Mbps.

The Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) which smoothly runs on Motorola Xoom has included Google Map 5.0 with 3D interaction, Tablet optimized Gmail, Google Search, redesigned Youtube, ebook and thousands of applications from Android Market. The business applications include Google Calender, Exchange Mail, opening and editing documents, spreadsheets and presentations. It also has integrated Adobe Flash 10.1 (beta).
