Netflix vs Zune
Netflix and Zune are similar in the sense both provide entertainment even though they are two different things, one is an online video streaming provider and the other a media player. Netflix Inc or commonly known as Netflix is a service in the United States of America and Canada which provides online video streaming and rents blue ray discs and DVD’s. In Canada it provides video streaming only. Zune is a Microsoft product it is a platform for entertainment and a portable media player.
NETFLIX:
This is a service active in the United States of America and Canada, which provides the users with online video streaming in both countries, but DVD and Blu-ray discs are provided on rent in the United States only. It offers flat fee subscription plans. The discs requested by the user are mailed to them in a pre-paid envelope which includes the postage and return mailer. However a subscriber shall return the previously rented disc before renting a fresh disc. This service does not charge for the late return. There are over 16 million users of this service in Canada and the United States of America and with this it is one of the leading services to provide the movies to users through internet subscription. Not only Netflix rents the discs but on a very cheap price you can watch a movie on your personal computer through streaming but only in US, the subscription plans for both the service are different.
Netflix have a collection of about 100000 video comprising not only of movies but also television series, documentaries, animated films. However, the number of videos available for online streaming is far less but this number is increasing. The delivery for the rental discs is very short, with a wide network in the United States it takes mostly one business day for delivery after shipping. Almost every device can stream from Netflix, some of them are Microsoft’s Xbox 360, Sony’s PS3 consoles, Internet TVs, Google TV, Blu-ray players, home theatre systems, Internet/digital video players and recorders, digital video recorders and players, Apple’s iPhone, and iPad.
ZUNE:
It is a Microsoft’s product and is a platform for entertainment and it is a portable media player. It is so popular that surveys have shown that it is the second popular mp3 device next only to the Apple’s iphone. With the ZUNE you can use mp3 player, image viewer, radio tuner and you can also play games on it.
The Zune platform and other products from Microsoft include the Zune Software, Xbox 360 video component, the Zune website and Windows Phone 7 devices. This product has a very good performance of audio, video and image viewing. It is available in a variety of colours and ‘Zune social’ is an online community where you can search for new music and tracks.

Difference between both products: • Netflix is a service, it is an online subscription service which provides DVD’s on rental and online video streaming whereas Zune is a product from Microsoft, which is an entertainment platform. • Netflix provides the subscribers with DVD’s on rent; there is nothing such in ZUNE as it is not a service. • Netflix is limited to the United States of America and Canada but Zune can be used worldwide • Netflix provides video streaming but Zune do not offer anything like it on request. |
