Difference Between Nokia N9 and Motorola Atrix

Nokia N9 vs Motorola Atrix – Full Specs Compared | MeeGo 1.2 on Nokia N9

Nokia, the Finnish Giant, and Motorola, the pride of US, have had several hits and flops to their credit recently though it was the introduction of Droid series that brought respectability back to the brand Motorola. Ever since, the company has not looked back and has been churning out crowd pullers one after another. Atrix, with the power of dual core computing has been a flagship smartphone from Motorola for the last few months. On the other hand, Nokia had been lying low after its announcement of moving ahead with Microsoft leaving behind the legendary Symbian OS. It has, however, come out with Nokia N9 in the interim that runs on a new OS called MeeGo v1.2. Let us see how these two smartphones fare when pitted against each other.

Nokia N9

There is no doubt about the fact that over use of Symbian OS was one of the factors that relegated Nokia to a lowly position when it came to world class smartphones though it tried hard with its N series of phones. This is why everyone is interested in the latest offering from Nokia as it is based upon a totally new OS called MeeGo. However, N9 boasts of some more exciting features that have the capability to keep it in the forefront, like its new swipe technology.

To begin with, the unibody Nokia N9 measures 116.5×61.2×12.1mm and weighs 135g, making it compact and handy like other smartphones in its category (though there is no pretension to be the lightest and thinnest). It has candy form factor and a robust design that is bold and beautiful. The control is so simple that one hardly needs any buttons. This has been made possible by the use of swipe technique that allows one to return to home with just a simple swipe along the edges, no matter what one is doing with apps or any other features. There are not one but three home screens that allow one to get faster access to loads of apps and features. So you do not have any fear of losing your way in a grid of menus. You can glide from app to app without pressing any keys. And yes, if you want to launch camera, messaging, or even web when you are in the middle of an app, just swipe up from the bottom of the screen and holding it briefly. Life cannot be easier than this!

N9 has a decent size highly capacitive 3.9 inch edge to edge touch screen that is AMOLED and covered by anti glare coated Corning Gorilla Glass. So no more scratch marks on the screen. The resolution of images is 480×854 pixels in 16 M colors that make for bright and sharp display. There are many standard features like multi touch input method, accelerometer, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor and Gorilla glass display.

N9 runs on MeeGo OS (v1.2 Harmattan), has a powerful 1 GHZ Cortex A8 processor, packs 1 GB of RAM and provides 16 to 64 GB of onboard storage in different models. The smartphone is NFC, Wi-Fi802.11b/g/n of course, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP+EDR, GPS with A-GPS, EDGE and GPRS (class 33), and WAP2.0/xHTML browser that provides for seamless surfing.

It has features of geo tagging, face detection and touch focus. It can record HD videos in 720p at 30fps. Nokia boasts N9 as the world’s first phone with Dolby Digital Plus decoding and Dolby Headphone post-processing technology. With this head phone technology you can enjoy the surround sound experience with any type of of headphone.

N9 comes preloaded with Angry Birds, Real Golf, and Galaxy on Fire. Nokia N9 is packed with standard Li-ion battery (1450mAh) that provides a talk time of up to 7 hrs in 3G.
