Difference Between Peanut Butter and Jelly

Peanut Butter vs Jelly

Peanut butter and jelly is perhaps two of the most favorite filling for sandwich. Everyone has their own preference for which of the two suits them best, but it would be best to find out what sets them both apart, aside from the texture that is.

Peanut Butter

Peanut butter is made from dry roasted peanuts and is in fact been around for about a hundred years. Texture wise, it is creamy paste that does well with not just sandwiches but also with biscuits or cookies. It also comes in a variety of flavors, it has the crunchy or the creamy flavor and it also comes in different packages which attracts kid and grownups alike. Its shelf life can be prolonged if it is store in the refrigerator.

Jelly

Jelly is known for its fluid like texture and consistency. It is usually made from mixing pure gelatin with sugar and other food additives. It comes in a variety of colors and flavors to choose from, though popularly it is available in fruit variants. Jellies are usually associated with sandwich, but since some jellies comes in unsweetened flavors, they actually make good food design with ice cream and salads. They have to be stored in the refrigerator to maintain its texture.

Difference between Peanut Butter and Jelly

Perhaps the debate will go to the nutritional content of these two fillings. Peanut butter, of course since being made from peanuts can boasts of the protein that it contains making it good for the muscles and for over all well-being. There are variants of Peanut butters right now that have low sugar content to address the concern for high glucose content. Jellies on the other hand, usually have high sugar content and if not refrigerated can lose its characteristic consistency. Lately a lot gelatin substitutes are available in the market, these are pectin, agar and carrageenan which is mainly used for kosher or Halal foods.

Admit it or not, these two are deliciously even when being eaten without a sandwich. However I like my sandwich more if I have both peanut butter and jelly on it.

In brief:
